The paint may wash off but the effects of their actions won't and as a result of this there will be tighter security and our liberties are encroached on further. People complain that there is a lack of freedom in this country and that everything we do is monitored and scrutinised, well you can thank moronic acts like this for that.

Their actions did nothing to further their cause of stopping the use of oil, what could they possibly have hoped to achieve by attacking a monument that has about as little to do with oil as is humanly possible.

The only grip I'd like to get here is around their throats.

Besides the point. This ridiculous act of petty, pointless vandalism was carried out two days before one of the most iconic festival of the year for Stonehenge. Would you condone them spraying Canterbury Cathedral two days before Easter or Westminster Abbey two days before a royal wedding? It may take weeks of heavy rain to get rid of this mess. I'm guessing it will take a lot of hard work at great expense to get this monument cleaned up. I hope these two morons have to pay the bill.

Nothing wrong with any of us. Yes there is climate change but there has been for millions of years. Yes we should be concerned about the man-made pollution of our atmosphere, rivers, seas etc. Governments, council, concerned individuals etc try to do something about it through recycling, cutting down on unnecessary journeys, waste etc. But foolish protests like this do more harm than good. They get peoples backs up. They make people angry. Certainly do nothing to get anyone on their side. Usually the reverse. Acts like this are nothing more that petty, pointless vandalism

The UK only produces 1% of the world's CO2 emissions. If we reached net zero on Sunday night come Monday morning the world would be 99% unchanged. Until China built a couple more coal burning power stations then we would be back to square one.

Why are JSO protesting in a country that causes so little of the problem rather than going to China or the USA, what's the real reason behind their actions?

Whilst I sympathise with your concerns I'm trying to envisage this country when JSO have succeeded. No cars on the road but no lorries either so how will food get delivered to shops. Then again will farmers be able to produce food without their tractors and combine harvester? I expect all you JSO types are vegan so keeping a pig and a few hens in your back garden wont be an option. No industry either. A stone age world prior to the 'burn-out' which will probably be caused by natural phenomena anyway

The fucking cunts that vandalised Stonehenge deserved mob justice.

The site is a World Heritage Site, a protected scheduled monument and religious site.

Attacking stonehenge should be considered a hate crime as well as an act of vandalism and anti-social behaviour.

Not quite, it may well have damaged ancient lichen on the stones and, the stone being porous they may not get all the orange off it, so permanent damage could have been done by these morons. Excellent point. It's a world heritage site and no oil was used in its construction as far as we know. The only people they are going to upset are the custodians of the site, the countless thousands of visitors and, at this particular time of year, the Druids/sun-worshippers/New Age Religion followers etc who congregate there for their most important festival. Not going to have the slightest effect on the oil companies. Just like spraying similar orange stuff over snooker tables during an important tournament, or gluing themselves to roads which just frustrates people and could even cause deaths if the emergency services cannot get through.

Because people here will listen, people in China and the USA will not.. No. Because vandalism in the UK is hardly punishable. In china they would never been seen again. "

You're not wrong.

How many are really prepared to protest by boycotting Chinese products? Very very few I suspect as goods manufactured in China cost substantially less than UK manufactured goods.

I think Stonehenge is probably fake, wasn't built by "druids" at all.... Built at a time way after that as a joke to see how many people would fall for it.

The acid rain and sulphur dioxide pollutants etc from fossil fuels will have done more damage to the stones since the industrial revolution than a bit of coloured flour. Pointless, mindless, far from it. It's got everyone above seething. Well timed protest, close to the henges big day, the solstice. As for the protesters themselves. One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.

I don't care what it was. It is moronic to do such things and achieves nothing"

It did achieve something , it alienates another group of the population against the just stop oil protesters.

Built long before druids ever arrived in the UK. There are lots of scientific methods to date when it was built.

It was built to celebrate the Winter Solstice not the Summer Solstice. Why would you want to celebrate the days getting shorter and the coming of winter. Much better to celebrate the days starting to get longer and the coming of spring.

Yes I'm sure you're right and it will eventually be shown that the stones are polythene foam left over from the early episodes of Dr. Who.

The neolithic ruins uncovered in Orkney pre-date those at Stonehenge.

For reasons unknown, it is believed that community migrated southwards.

Chemical analysis of the 6-tonne altar stone shows it to be a match with the geology of the Orcadian basin - the rock beneath Caithness and Orkney.
