Although we are outraged we tend to think about the perpetrator and justice being done rather than unbelievable terror and suffering the victims must have endured. "Anyone following the trial? Today's reports are fascinating - kinky sex romps" I have followed some of it, actually. It’s really been quite depressing. An obvious user and a snake, and two very gullible seniors who enjoyed the fact they could pay to have fun with and be in the company of a younger man and were blind to the developing danger. I did notice that the Colombian, who clearly had no previous problems communicating and was even being funded by them to do a college course, now suddenly requires an interpreter. Which the taxpayer is dumbly funding of course. And now, quelle surprise, the defence is that he was originally abused by the older couple. Unprovable hearsay. Woeful attempt to mitigate to manslaughter. His internet history and PC activity about serial killing, body disposal, the value of their house and copying all their bank access codes have already been disclosed and rather blow that up. One can only hope everyone will see through this crap. A costly trial. And yet another occasion where the lack of the death penalty spavines our ability to dispense proper justice. As I said, depressing. | |||
