Doctors have been trying new medication with me for diabetes and the two they have tried I have had thrush as a side effect from both now not able to pull foreskin back and doctors thinking a fungal cream will sort it all out 4 days in and no change not even been seen by a doctor.

I have exactly the same issue. All was fine until a few weeks ago then suddenly over two days it became impossible to pull back the foreskin.

I was given tablets to take for a week but they had no effect at all. I’m not due to see the doc again until a week tomorrow. It’s uncomfortable to say the least.

Go to the pharmacy and tell them you have thrush due to diabetes medication and they will give you canestan cream. It will clear it up. I had terrible thrush my Dr changed meds to something more suitable. Canestan cream worked for me until it was sorted

Don’t you have to apply that cream under the foreskin? I can’t get mine back now to apply any cream.

The medicine does not cause phimosis, it's the diabetes that causes it.

When soft I can get past the tight band I have by using my little finger with the cream on it.

Hoping to have it sorted by creams as I don't fancy a circumcision at 45

Likewise - and I’m considerably older than you.

Same boat.

Creams sorted the yeast infection - diktarin available on the shelf and usually marketed for its ability to help with foot infections!

A bit of my foreskin fused to the helmet so it pulls sore when I get full hard with it rolled back.

Saw a urologist and I'm on a waiting list for a circumcision which is what he said was the only option.

Not keen, but the only other option is very very limited sex.

A bit daunting.

I wonder instead of giving you loads of medication whether your doctor has suggested losing weight?

Its because your urine is passing excess sugar causing thrust and also phimosis balantis.

I had a similar issue, was only after having thrush that I discovered I had diabetes, and that was what had caused it. Course of Canestan cream worked for me. Hope you get it cleared up soon, it’s not pleasant

I think you can get antifungal tablets to take instead.

A few years ago I got penile thrush--or was it balanitis? or maybe the same thing--and saw a GP. He gave me some cream that cleared it up but not straight away. Took several weeks. He also advised me to avoid sex without a condone until it had completely cleared, and to try, wherever possible, to wash my penis after every piss.

Honest advice as I experienced this at 30, it never truly went away so I advise to get a circumcision. Never have to worry about that problem again.

I also have Type 2 diabetes and am on Empagliflozin, the aim of this medication is to extract more glucose from your bloodstream and cause you to excrete it in your urine. This causes the sugar level in my pee to go " off the scale" according to the last nurse to dip urine sample. Unfortunately one of the side effects of the increased sugar content is the occurance of male thrush. This manifests itself as an irritation of the helmet and a tightening of my foreskin. Due to a congenital defect, hypospadia, I have a shortened foreskin so I don't have the problem of being unable to withdraw it back over the helmet but it is still quite uncomfortable for a few days. I find the application of Clotrimazole 1% to be very effective and normally clears everything up in a few days. Only problem I have encountered was that some pharmacists seemed to be unwilling to sell this , or Canestan, over the counter because I was over 60. Apparently there is some reported contra-indications for post-menopausal women!!!!! Though why applying this cream for treatment of male thrush affects this I'll never understand.

I am Diabetic. I tend to get unpleasant sweaty smells in my crevices. (sorry to be direct..but here we are) It affects the washing too...causing all low temp washing to have a musty smell. The increased sugar in your sweat promotes bacteria which aren't killed by low temp washing. This deposits on all the other stuff in the machine. Doc told me to apply roll on or talc to all areas...between legs too in the groin area to stop build up. You will know as it gets smelly. Tried disinfecting my smalls...but it's a pain. More care over personal hygiene is my choice. Do it before going to bed.

May be worth trying a very low carbohydrate diet. It is possible to put T2 diabetes into remission by doing this under medical supervision. Helps with weight control and some see improvement in skin conditions.

Type 2 here, with phymosis.

I recently had itching for which doctor proscribed Hydrocortisone 1%/Clotrimazole 1% (canaesten) POM, applied to foreskin twice daily, for 7 days only. Within 3 to 4 days, it was clearing, and by 7 had worked. It is absorbed through the skin. I recommend it, though it is a "prescription only medication"

As for sweaty areas, I shower twice a day, morning and night, paying attention to crevices and if I notice a feeling of itch, I use Sudocrem applied lightly, and it prevents full blown episode.

Hope this is of help.

Contact if you need more details.
