Deleting messages

I am probably missing something obvious but is there a way to delete a single thead of messages.

I know there is a delete thread button if another person is the last one to send a messages. But if I am the last one to message then the delete thread button dissapears and there doesn't seem to be a way to delete just that thread.

In the list of messages, there’s an icon on the right that looks like a padlock. Tap that to delete messages. Works in the inbox and sent box

Thanks for that. I knew there would be a way, just couldn't see it for looking. Can get rid of some of the crap wasters now.

If you use the padlock it seems it will erase ALL the messages sent and received. How do I erase messages from someone, but leave the messages I want to retain from that person?
