marriage may have worked in the 1800s when you got married at 16 with an average life expectancy of 40 it worked now living till 80+ is a long time with one person.

People change views and personality repeatedly over time, and yes I appreciate some marriages only last 5 or 6 years why even get married in today's world?

Plenty of successful gay marriages around...

The sense of commitment is nice.

I'd prefer an open marriage.

Committed but not exclusive.

53 years married and always been in an open marriage relationship ,appreciate it would not work for everyone but it has for me. Still love each other more than ever but the sex between us finished years ago but there goes to prove there's more to a marriage than sex xxx

I still have sex with my wife.

She can enjoy it but I think she would be happier just watching Bake Off.

We have been to tranny clubs and had TV 3somes in the past but she is no longer interested.

I would be more than happy if she said to me that she no longer wanted sex but was ok for me to got to tranny clubs etc as I wanted....

After over 40 years together I am getting fed up of trying to inspire her....

Been with my hubby 34 years. Gay marriage does work. Together since December 1990 and in a CP since December 2005, the first day they became legal in the UK. It was also our 15 year anniversary the same day.

I've seen several marriages and relationships come to grief via swinging sites unfortunately. My GF and I remarked at the time, why on earth would you cheat on your partner if you're both swinging together? But people did.

Don't think you have got to go back to the 1800s [not checked your profile to see how old you are ] but until fairly recent years marriage was a life long commitment and a lot of people did live into their 80s and beyond. Three of my aunts celebrated their golden weddings. I know quite a lot of other people who have done as well. On the other hand I heard recently that one of my 2nd cousin's FIFTH ing have just ended.

People are still getting married. Some rush into it for all the wrong reasons. Divorce is ridiculously easy now and seems to be an option rather than a last resort. You even get couples entering into pre-nuptial agreements in case it does not work out. I rather like the idea of being committed to one person for life even though I'm not sure it would actually suit me and I've left it too late in life now

A young Sudanese man, a refugee with the right to live in the UK, says he wants to marry me.

He is 24 and I am 57.

What could possibly go wrong?

Anyway, I invited him to spend the weekend at my place at the end of the month.

Assuming we get in, I've asked him to come with me to Benidorm in March.

I've no doubt he'll get in...

Judging by your posts, he'll probably fall in...

My wife and I started dating at 16 and have been a couple for 32 years now. We are non monogamous and have been for over 26 years. Our relationship seems to get stronger year after year but it takes work.
