Proof of the old adage that you can't polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter.

Depends on if it's a cover of a relatively unknown original. Eg Denis by Blondie or Tainted Love by Soft Cell that achieved greater success and people aren't aware that they are covers. Then there's the god awful covers of songs that are perfect to begin with,I hate those. too many to list but most Kate bush songs are uncoverable. Or Beatles.

" Most Kate bush songs are uncoverable. Or Beatles. "

Never heard anyone attempt to do a cover version of a Kate Bush record. One or too cover versions of the Beatles are not bad. Brian Ferry's Jealous Guy is far superior to the original John Lennon one.

Placebo did a good cover of Running up that Hill.

Decent Beatles covers Joe Cocker, With A Little Help From My Friends and Siouxsie & the Banshees , Dear Prudence.

Any Christmas album. Micky bubbles for example doing super rubbish covers. The cd/download for his probably costs full price vs a selection of the originals is almost free. Unless you can do a better job than the original I don't know why you pay more for a poor version of the original.

Elton John and the guy from it's a sin. The guy from it's a sin has the annoying smug gay face. In it's a sin he doesn't why some gay guys walk around with a sort of smugness that on a straight guy would get them punched then complain it's homophobic when. Pelle think they are a smug tit. Elton John's bit isn't to bad. but the warbling and rubbish takes a cool and timely song to a utter rubbishness. Also the right to the song, Elton John at the time was marrying women and successfully suing news papers who said he was gay and the smug singer wasn't born or put. The song came with the Thatcher government banning books that even mention non men and women relationships, hiv was being preached as gods revenge on the gays and it was still illegal to do most things and the church despite mainly being run by not just gays but gay pedos preached sin. So from so many standpoints it's a shit cover and neither singers have the right to sing it.

A lot of people don't realise that Adele's 'To Make You Feel My Love' was written by the Nobel prizewinning God of popular music, Bob Dylan.

Make a date in your diary for the real coming this Christmas Day...the gorgeous Timothy Chalamet as Dylan in "A Complete Unknown", in a cinema near you.
