They were the best trams in UK outside of museums. Modern ones have no character. They had lots of characters, some dodgy!

Apparently the Open air (boat trams) or in San Francisco (USA) and a few of the older ones are at the National Tramway museum near Matlock in Derbyshire

South Shore Blackpool.

There are safety concerns about the tourist heritage trams sharing the same tracks as the commuter trams.

This is due to timetable issues of the commuter trams and also the new track extension leading to the North Shore railway station.

The heritage trams do have a home in Rigby Road but the building is in a poor state of repair and is run by dedicated volunteers and fund-raising.

They sometimes allow visits to the depot on Wednesdays.

The modern commuter tram depot at Starr Gate has accommodated some heritage trams recently but they don't have the available space to sustain it long term.

They have been scuppered by needing to have the upto date technology on board, which is very expensive, and difficult to retrofit to old trams.
