Offshore now, ignore pistcode

They are alive and well in Australasia

Bought my sons clothes there - the ladybird range was excellent - seemed a bit upmarket for the shop as a whole

I have a rather splendid climbing rose bush that is at least 35 years old. It was bare-rooted in plastic wrapping with card backing.

40 year old artificial Christmas tree and also the lights which still work and I've never changed a bulb. Now that is value for money and also beats the modern throw away society.

That's probably worth a bit more than the 2s6d I guess it cost?

In America it’s known as a Five ‘n’ Dime Store. Nanci Griffith’s song Love at the Five ‘n’ Dime is about Woolworths.

Subsidiary Question: which shops have a song written about them?

Apparently Woolworths wants to be present in every market town in England and were they could not open up a store they brought a mobile bus to use as a store than tour Essex and Kent on certain days of the week but the local shopkeepers in the towns kick up a fuss and Woolworth scraped the Idea
