A quality adhesive with different types to suit a particular application, which is the secret of success in using all adhesives. A rather sticky subject though! 😉

There are a now few different types of Araldite available to suit your particular application, some have longer / shorter curing types than others.

Just checked Ebay & still seems to be available. If looked after the two tube set should last for years. A little goes a long way. Never get the caps around the wrong way!

Girls who it can be seen have an interest in diy and adhesive properties

If not I just get chatting to them and pick up on the hooks

Do you talk to girls?

I have used those where they are joined and mix 50/50 for you but they are always inferior and seem to set soft

Araldite sets nice and hard and is ideal for sanding to a good surface

I'd always thought it was the dog's bits - though surface preparation is as always essential. But that was until I used JB Weld to stick the magnets back in a motorcycle alternator rotor. Perfect, and it doesn't soften so much as Araldite when hot.

Who remembers cascamite? A powder mixed with water. Joints clamped and stuck incredibly well, slow drying though

Used Araldite to fix a gash in the top of a petrol tank on an old Cortina. The repair lasted the life of the car.

That's what happens when you open the boot and throw a big box of tools in without thinking. Before I fixed it it smelt the car out but would never have leaked because I could only ever afford to put a pound or two's worth of petrol in each time back then.

Used to use it a lot. Had great gap filling properties and was great for re-setting lose and worn joints in chairs etc.

Two pack red / white araldite is a classic adhesive. What some may not know was industrial araldite had a range of types with different mixes and setting temperatures - you had to bake them. Some expanded and bubbled and gave off heat. I remember a plastic mould made to cast a coil for a metal detector melted into a mess.

Now, along with some super glued I still use araldite. I've also used gorilla glue where you just wet the mating part. It expands to gap fill and worked really well.

Girls? Adhesive is man's talk.
