Is this another group of freeloaders expecting Labour to pay up because their pension age was changed ? Well thank goodness Labour has lost interest and not a penny will be changing hands post election.

If that happened to you, you’d have a very different POV.

I don’t see why they need compensation for having to keep working for a few years

No I don't believe in it, the government should compensate all men for not being able to take their state pension at 60 years old, we need equal treatment. So there must be millions of WASPI men waiting for their compensation back dated all the way back to when pension was first paid...it's so funny that equal rights only apply when women are the beneficiary....it's about time men stood up and fought for their rights too..

That is the price of equal rights, women demanded equal pay and rights for equal work, trouble is the maths didn't add up so women work as long as men now.

The original change was made in 1995. That equalised pension ages by 2020. That was changed in 2011 to make the change by (I think) 2019. That’s 34 years notice. How much time do you think they needed?

Just out of interest how many paid in and for how long then work out how much they paid in and how much they claim to want. Not arguing. Just think it would be very interesting results. At that time not as many worked, less worked full time.

Just another example of our something for nothing society for which we are due compensation.

Changes were well notified if you bothered to look. The DWP website is easy to use and it took me no time to find that not only would I not qualify for the state pension until I was 66 but also how much I could expect to get based on my contributions.

It was a ball ache to lose a years worth of state pension but I'm not standing on a soapbox voicing my displeasure.

She could have carried on working till she was 66 …we don’t force people to retire. When I started work I expected to retire at 65 , now I won’t get a pension till I’m 67 , so I will work till 67 , simples.

the outright misogyny in these forums is very surprising when about 3/4 you spend the whole time talking about your sexual fantasies about women (other than your wives of course, no sexual feelings there!!) and playing dress up as women then the first chance you get your misogyny comes pouring out.

You have no fucking idea you twat these women paid there NI based on an implicit promise then the government changed the rules. If there are any freeloaders in the UK it's sweatiest like you who get free everything from the Scottish government and expect massive wadges of cash from the rest of us. Your point about paying NI expecting to retire at a certain age only to have it changed is well made but goes for all of us though. I was expecting 65, now if going to be 67. It’s not fair, I paid in and didn’t get what’s promised, but no one is claiming people my age should be compensated.

What makes me laugh about this whole Waspi episode is that, back in the 70/80’s Women were complaining quite vocally at times that it was very unfair that they were forced to retire at 60 when Men had to work until they were 65 and that they should be treated the same. Now they have what they wanted, apparently no one told them 🤔🤦‍♂️

The independent ombudsman did say it was unfair, but that the women had not been made financially worse off by the change. As such he could not see why compensation should be paid.

That was the finding of an independent body, but still the women are complaining about not getting compensation.

While Labour have stated they will not pay compensation, the Tories have said the same. While decision will stick in the throat of many at least they’ve said rather than kicking the can down the road like the Tories have.

Except that Starmer, Reeves, Rayner etc campaigned alongside the WASPI women, with Rayner inparticular saying this was their money and it had been taken from them. Many WASPI women probably voted for Labour due to that support. Labour were totally duplicitous.... another example to add to a lengthening list of betrayal
