Will The UK Defend Greenland?

As Donald Trump has again voiced his opinion that the USA acquire Greendland, what would the consequences be,

if Greenland, an autonomous part of Denmark, is attacked? Denmark has already rebuked the USA's advance in 2019.

Any military action by the USA would invoke all the NATO nations (including the USA and Uk) to come to the aid of Denmark!

Sort this one out, if anyone can.

The President in the US has very little actual power.

He can spout off all he likes but the Senate would have to agree, which they wouldn't.

It's why very little changed last time he was in power.

It's just 'look at me' rubbish.

There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about. This is one of Oscar Wilde’s most popular quotes. It highlights the human desire for relevance in a world where most people are overlooked.

Love the ignorance spewing out from the Trump haters LOL

First off. Trump has and never will encourage war against any country let alone a well managed Self Governing Country.

Trump has a massive financial interest in Greenland, but so does so many other countries around the globe like Russia and China. Personally, if someone is going to buy out Greenland then I vote for USA especially over both Russia and China and irrelevant of what any Brit says, the Brit Government would back such a deal.

Denmark are fully supporting financially Greenland and at present I don't see much in Returns at the moment for them. So although they are suggesting it will never happen, financially speaking, USA would be the better option.

The absurdity of any country wanting to militarily attack and take over Greenland is pathetically ridiculous but the bigger question is would you vote or incur hate towards some country buying out Greenland. Our lovely planet is going through some changes, some say Global Warming caused by humans, some would say it's a natural life cycle of the planet but the reality is that due to ice melting, the area of the Arctic is becoming a massive turn on for shipping routes and mineral mining. Depending on your philosophy of advancing economic growth in the country is what will determine the outcome. Personally, I live and love modern industry but I also think there is a wealth in keeping a countries culture and heritage. Greenland, although relies heavily on Denmark for Financial support has a choice. Either continue in their own cultural background of fishing etc. or partake in industrial revolution.

It's a decision for them alone and not for Brits or any other nation to make for them.

And wondered how far Greenland was from Europe, using capitals as the point of measurement, it appears.

Nuuk to Washington 2035 miles

Nukk to Copenhagen 2095 miles

Nuke to London 2014 miles

Is Greenland truly in the USAs sphere of influence?

Smoke & mirrors

The USA has a long standing agreement since 50s to having their established base there increase in size at any time they so wish.

It is about Trump being unhappy about the US financial contribution to NATO compared to other countries, it is a tactic to get other NATO members to contribute more.

It is working, all week NATO members have been announcing they are now sending forces to participate in military exercises.

Probably result in a permanent NATO defence base there.

Tariffs are another of his smoke & mirrors tactics.

US citizens are not seeing the cost of living improvement he promised, he desperately needs tax income without being seen to raise domestic taxes.

Adding tarrifs to products that the US domestic market cannot compete with pricewise will not reduce those imports, nor will tariffs on products they cannot source elsewhere.

Effectively a stealth VAT being sold as protecting US interests.

He has some very clever and devious people advising him.

Greenland may be a 'frozen desert' superficially but it's got a lot going on beneath its surface - a rich mineral wealth of rare earth elements, uranium, iron, copper, zinc, and gold, to name a few. And offshore, there's thought to be significant oil and gas reserves, which Trump has got his beady eye on!

"The op wants America to attack America if they invade Greenland because part of nato don’t think they will. "

You are taking bollocks.

This is what I said.

"Any military action by the USA would invoke all the NATO nations (including the USA and Uk) to come to the aid of Denmark!"

That is correct, as the USA is a member of NATO. Article 5 compels NATO members to come to any NATO member that is attacked.

I look forward to your apology.

"Not as interesting as The Epstein Files!"

I believe we will get to see them eventually, but not while this lunatic occupies the White House.

Greenland is not part of Europe in that you are right, everything else was nonsense. The inhabitants of Greenland are European and there number is irrelevant. It certainly is a problem for the all the members of the UN including the UK. It was the yanks who inflicted the lunatic onto the world stage and now they need to get rid of this criminal.

Why does Trump really want it?

Minerals rights.

Would it not make sense for those rights (worth billions) be kept out of his hands?

I don’t understand one word of this, perhaps someone would be kind enough to interpret what you attempting to convey.

I doubt if anyone could could be more critical of the criminal than I have been, so no apologies on that one. If you speak to an adult he will have no difficulty in pointing out to you the enormous damage this lunatic has inflicted on Europe and on the UN.

"The President in the US has very little actual power.

He can spout off all he likes but the Senate would have to agree, which they wouldn't.

It's why very little changed last time he was in power.

Thnk fuck !!

I agree with you, but let’s not forget about ICE which now is permitted to murder US citizens on the streets with no questions asked."

Let's not forget ICE killed over 60 people under Obama

The biggest problem of America invading Greenland (which I really think won’t happen) is that it would leave NATO without its largest member.

The US would have to relinquish its membership of NATO, and that would leave Europe open to attacks from other superpowers as it wouldn’t pull together properly to defend itself.

Whilst NATO was still arguing about how to defend itself and who should be in charge of that defence, half of Europe would be in the invaders hands, decreasing the number of defenders more and more.
