Definitely Steven Moffat has lost the plot(if you can excuse the pun)

Are we Whovians not fed up with silly plots that would be better on the silly soaps like Corrie, Eastenders etc.

We want adventure not watered down nostalgia or an insight into the troubled dysfunctional personality of the Doctor's new associates.

N'Cuti is the most emotional Doctor ever and a good actor and a so sexy man, but really has he been given a good exciting adventure to thwart the deadliest of aliens in the Whoinverse? No he hasn't.

Where is the great adventurers typified by Tennant, Baker(Tom), Pertwee , Capaldi, Smith just to name a few.

Where are the frightening creatures from the depth of space that want to obliterate our planet and want to assimilate mankind to their way of life

Where?

Bringing out the occasional dinosaur, like in the Christmas adventure is child's play

Where are the great companions like Rose Tyler, Jamie McCrimmon, Amy Pond etc.

No wonder there is doubt about another series after next years

Sir y Fflint - Gogledd Cymru

For a series that dates back over 60 years, perhaps every story theme and variations of themes have now been exhausted to do it any justice in today's world? Maybe it's gone past its time especially as the quality entertainment factor it once had has since been lost and it's time to close the book.

Dr Who is aimed at a different audience now.

Dr Who works better with monsters, it’s trying to modernise. Which means boring.

Bring on the WokeFlake Monster.

It’s is possible to show respect to everyone without, laying inclusivity on with a trowel.

I use to be an avid viewer. Now I rarely watch it.

Its supposed to be SI-FI not Nonsense FI.

Doctor Who isn't always about monsters and invasions...It's different things to different people from comedy,drama,musicals,adventure,tragedy...it's in the storytelling not in following a format. Its diversity as a show means there is enough for everyone and why it's lasted

One of my favourite stories was.

THE PYRAMIDS OF MARS.l

I watched it first time round as a child.

This along with GENESIS OF THE DALEKS are Classics.

Today’s efforts are not in the same league.

Dr Who is heading towards retirement.

My take is that Doctor Who has a large young fan base who don't give a fuck what anyone who watched it 20 years ago think about it now.

That's what's driving the numbers of viewers up.

(Also it really is not that bad in comparison to some stuff from the past)

I thought the xmas special was good,Dr who isn't just about monsters and being scary the 60,s and 70,s was a different time Daleks and cybermen arnt scary anymore, But the fear of loneliness and loss and fear of aging as his companions do now that's scary, I could go on and on about why Dr who is as good today as it ever was but it's all in the eye of the beholder opions are like assholes everybody has one.

This is true.

Maybe Dr Who had to go in a different direction, and it's my tastes which no longer align.

That's fine.

We are blessed with choice nowadays. In the distant past, that wasn't the case.

Here, there or somewhere nearish March

I’ve watched every episode since it began when I was eight. That’s one of the advantages of being old. I love to see all the different ways the character has been taken over the past sixty odd years. So far I’ve watched the Christmas special twice and enjoyed it even more the second time. I’m sorry when I see so many people who don’t like anything different happening. May Doctor Who outlive me and continue to surprise. I love it.

I’ve no issues with Dr Who being different and evolving, it’s the writing that’s been dreadful.

If you had to write an Essay on a Classic episode you could easily fill a few pages. You would struggle to write a Paragraph on the latest effort.

If I’d never seen Dr WHO, and had just seen the Christmas Special, I’d of switched off in the first ten minutes.

I don’t care if they make any more. I have IPlayer to watch Dr Who if I’m ever so inclined.

Each to their own, of course, and I am enjoying Doctor Who immensely.

Peter Capaldi and particularly Jodie Whittaker were let down by less good writing, but I have not found that to be the case with Ncuti Gatwa so far. What serves Doctor Who poorly is the decision taken before the reboot that each episode must be self-contained. Having to to cram the exposition, development and resolution of a plot into a single episode may fit a current aesthetic, but it does little to encourage the viewer to become invested in the series.

It’s a shadow of its former self I lasted 10 mins before I turned it off

Have a tradition of watching past Christmas specials if you do you’ll see how far the show has fallen

For me, it died as a series when Davison's Doctor died on Androzani Minor in 1984, and it never recovered. I tried watching the re-boot, but it just seemed 'off' tonally: ie the comedy and Buffy inspired 'snarky' one liner stuff, it wasn't for me. Obviously I have seen clips of the latest iteration of the show, and it seems even further away from the show I loved as a kid, and not for me.

To be honest I preferred Blake's Seven.

Daleks as a kid were great baddies.

The Weeping Angels creeped me out too.

I doubt an institution like the BBC could produce an edgy enough sci-fi series anymore to entertain the jaded cynical masses these days.

From Capaldi in, the whole franchise took a massive dive.

Time this joke of a program was put out of its misery for good.

Davison "died" in the TARDIS not Androzani Minor

Blakes 7 had plenty of snarkiness in Avon and series A is out on bluray

This was a very disappointing episode, poor loose rehash of ‘Voyage of the Damned’, agree that Ncuti Gatwa plays a great character, but suffering from poor writing…fingers crossed for the next series…

Agreed - Super disappointed after seeing it! Hoping for a lot more and left thinking "meh".

Lazy script writing again.

Though my young nieces absolutely loved it so go figure!!!

Awful episode , terrible nonsensical plot. Seemed more like the Ncuti Gatwa show, than Doctor Who, time to send him to Trenzalore for a very long time.

I am old enough to remember the first episode and was a fan for many years. But it was always supposed to be a kids show and it's many many years ago when I was a kid. I can't even name all the doctors now. Lost interest some years ago and from bits of promos I've seen there's no incentive for me to watch again. Now when they do get around to casting a vegan lesbian dolphin as the Dr I may tune in to watch.

They must have repeated the early series too , as I remember watching the William Hartnell episodes and hiding behind the sofa , was living in Bristol so I reckon it was around 1965 . Troughton is still the quintessential Doctor though …
