I’m happy that certain people in sports, entertainment etc get honours however

The system is clearly politically corrupted and we all know that they are for sale.

I have a distant friend who was recently given the MBE and rightly so for all the work he does volunteering

I think that these kind of Honours are the most deserving as are those of people in civilian or Military service who through outstanding dedication earn them

Not just because you are a high ranking civil servant

I don’t think there’s a way to judge these matters though

Honours are mostly civil and used to recognise merit in terms of achievement and service.

Military personnel are generally eligible for a Decoration (tend to be used to recognise specific deeds) or a Medal.

Medals are used to recognise service on a particular operation or in a specific theatre, long or valuable service, and good conduct.
