I’ve just looked on squirt.org and found that the nearest pubs/bars are in Birmingham and Stoke on Trent. That’s about 35 miles as the crow flies.

There used to be a gay cafe or bar in the Abbey Foregate but I am talking several years ago now, so probably long gone.

Does the Rainbow Film Festival still happen in Shrewsbury? I only went once several years ago but there seemed to be enough of a scene to sustain a pub.
