Not a book, but as you like history I'd recommend a series of podcasts on YouTube called The Rest is History.

Thanks "

Impressive, you can clearly multitask if you can listen and workout at the same time , the presenters make every word count, I find that if my attention strays for even a few minutes I need to rewind or I've lost the thread of a particular line of conversation.

Near Perth (not in Perth)

Snowball Oranges. Plus Thistle Soup. Non fiction written by a Scottish farmer who moved his family from Scotland to a Spanish island for in part, better weather. When they got there, the orange grove which came with their property, was covered in snow! Challenging, hilarious and heartbreaking warming times lay ahead in their new world.

As you like history (and despite you now having more than enough recommendations to last you for the whole of 2025), can I strongly suggest the following:

Afghansty by Rodric Braithwaite, about the Soviets in Afganistan

Zulu by Saul David, about the Zulu war of 1879

Khartoum by Michael Asher, about the Sudan Campaign

To The Last Round by Andrew Salmon, about the Battle of the Imjun River, Korea 1951

Commander by Stephen Taylor, about Sir Edward Pellew, Frigate Captain

They Fought Alone by Maurice Buckmaster, about the SOE in France WW2.

Rifles by Mark Urban, about the 95th Rifles during Wellingtons Peninsula Campaign

Stalingrad by Antony Beevor.

Iron Coffins by Herbert Werner, about one of the few U Boat Captains to survive WW2.

Shackleton by Sir Ranulph Fiennes
