Should I go hinged base ring or solid?? Is there a technique for fitting the cage easily as it seems getting everything through the base ring is gonna be a struggle

I've got a hinged ring, it works well for me. Some guys say the hinge can nip but I've not found a problem. A little bit of tape over it can solve that if needed.

Never had a hinged base ring with any I've had, always solid. Haven't had a problem getting them on at any point but I could see how a hinged ring might be easier. I'd be concerned about it pinching at times but like the previous poster said I'm sure a bit of tape would solve that if it became a problem.

I prefer metal cages with a solid ring, just a bit of lotion to put on and a tissue underneath to prevent pinching when fitting the cage and it's fine.

Get a solid base and not too big (it will just fall off eventually) I spent a few quid on a Vice cage and the hinged back ring nipped and pinched terribly. Check the cherrykeeper range out

I'd try a plastic one first, they come with different base ring sizes to try out. I'd say go a size smaller than you think you need as once you've tried you'll want to go smaller a snug fit is best.

Either is fine but they key is building it up. The notion that you fit and wear for days is nonsense. Get one and start slowly . Baby oil helps and get different rings etc to find the right size

I have both hinged ring and unhinged.

They both have advantages and disadvantages.

The un hinged can be a challenge to get on, butt are smooth all around.

Hinged are easier to get on, a smaller ring may be possible, butt the hinge can rub the base of the ball
