I have noticed recently that some people are starting to reply to posts using AI answers (via Co Pilot most obviously), just wondered if anyone else is starting to notice these types of replies creeping in to the threads. Mx

For those of us unfamiliar with AI quotes - What are the things to look out for when trying to spot them?

You could respond with something thoughtful and engaging, like:

“Yes, I’ve noticed that as well. While AI tools like Co-Pilot can be helpful for generating quick replies, they often lack the personal touch or deep understanding that comes from real experience. It’s definitely something to keep an eye on to ensure discussions remain meaningful. What’s your take on it?”

This approach acknowledges their point while inviting further conversation.

It's the default setting on their new phones and they don't know how to change it🤔

I wouldn't know and wouldn't know what to look for.

Not even sure how you would use the program to respond. Seems pointless if you can't think for yourself

Do a Google search for the subject in question on an iPhone or Edge on a computer for example and you’ll get an AI response that’s similar to some answers on here.

The AI answer may not be accurate. AI is now picking up misinformation from internet sources and spewing it out as fact.

I use AI a lot in my graphics work for the websites I make. It’s fantastic for that kind of thing. But as a source of information, it’s becoming less accurate over time in my opinion.

Lack of knowledge I think. AI responses are not necessarily accurate. You have to be careful how you use it and also research the AI response if you want accurate information. Some of it is good, but in my experience it quotes inaccurate information sometimes.

Some people think that AI is virtually perfect. It’s far from that.

It's noticeable with people who usually litter their posts with spelling and grammatical errors but then there's that occasional post where they are absent, sentences are properly constructed and they suddenly appear to know the difference between there, their and they're or to, too and two just for that single post.

The next post, they're back to mangling the English language in their usual fashion.

Yorkshire tech phones have their own version of Gemini. But it's called Jed.

Whenever you ask it something, it responds with

"Go look it up herself, yer lazy tw@t"

My point in raising this thread is looking at the posts using AI is almost like another step change happening now. If the original social media was individuals putting their thoughts online and then the two opposing camps forming around those thoughts now out there for all to see at least these were the actual human being displaying thought , now with the AI generated posts is now the proxy thought process taking over gradually. So instead of the actual thought of a human as disagreeable and stupid as some obvious are we now have a thought by proxy which fits the originators narrative but not the actual thought it's the middle man now and ever increasing to become the main man so to speak.

Look at the permissions you grant to all the apps on your devices and either disable or uninstall them if you are not comfortable with them running.

This could be especially important to those of you who are not out and on here anonymously from friends and relatives.

So many apps are granted access to camera, mic, call and text content, locations and internet history. As a bonus you could be quite happy at the improvement in speed once those apps are not taking processing power and memory. Co pilot is particularly hungry and greedy so fuck off Google it's my phone and I'll decide what it does. (well as much as possible)

Totally agree with you huni from a technical perspective, but my thread is more about how people are now changing from voicing their actual thoughts via social media to utilising AI as a proxy and to embellish their original thoughts either due to their ego desire for attention or because they are incapable of actually producing the fully drawn out thought themselves. A step change in social media and in the way the human being is conveying their innermost thoughts is happening right before our eyes I believe.

This observation highlights the tension between technology's benefits and its impact on human expression.

AI-generated content raises questions about authenticity, self, and identity. This phenomenon resonates with philosophical concepts like simulacra and underscores the need for critical thinking and media literacy.

Ha ha!😄 Guy from Arundel, top marks, you were clearly paying attention when I said that AI-generated content raises questions about authenticity, but I can assure you that it is the genuine input of a mere human of humble mortal soul who was in existence before the digital age, although having said that, I'm now doubting the authenticity of my own self-generated words! 😁

Fair enough but I didn't think it read genuine, authentic or human-generated for some reason.

A little off topic. I had a phone call asking me about my cracked walls and damp spots (insert your own punch line here)

The woman’s voice was perfect. But when I didn’t respond as expected, she repeated the question, identical to the first time. That’s when I told the robot to fuck off. The robot hung up on me. I successfully pissed a robot off. I’m now waiting for a Terminator to kick my door down.

Yes I get a lot of similar calls, highly annoying. Usually about house insulation etc.

If it's a suspected spam call, I now answer but don't say anything. That seems to confuse them.

A certain 8 tentacled energy company uses AI bots in its complaints department. Trying to get them to understand an issue is like banging your head against a brick wall. They do always ‘understand your frustration’ though.

I use AI a lot for getting various types of information including medical and engineering problems. I have to admit, if there is a forum subject or post that I'm not sure of, I will ask the questions in an AI and then either copy some of the content and or post a reply that is how I feel. Most of the posts I put on these forums are how I feel personally or experienced myself.

AI is still very young in it's current form and still learning. I only use reputable AI's, the one I use, the Edenborough University had significant input to it and was initially trained by many Engineers and professors within the University before being fully released to the public.

I believe we all need to use google or many other search engines to find the information we now know but I've certainly learnt that Google pulls up a lot misinformation which sadly many believe to be true.
