Despite 'Rachel' on wednesday holding them up as a sucess story she has refused to back them. The Tories offered 90m towards costs but she cut it doen to 40m.

It is roumoured that production will switch to Ireland.

Is this the 'new future' that Labour promised?

Brexit 5 year anniversary today, not looking to stoke the fire but I don't think it has been a success, Astra zeneca moving to Ireland is a prime example

Not true labour thought they could renegotiate a deal that was made under the last government 450 million investment for a 90 million stake from government

Labour offered 40 so Astra said no thanks , way to go that’s what you get when you put HR in charge of making contracts.

Got to feel Trump might have hit the nail on the head when he said people have been hire to positions they are not up too

'hire to positions they are not up too'?

I get the gist of what you're saying, but the orange guy hasn't produced any evidence to back this up, and has been ridiculed by air travel experts.

What great positions have you ever been 'hire to'?

If every government said pay for it yourself they would, but there’s always the next government willing to subsidise their business

It isn't bribery, bribery is illegal. It's a Government's job to attract businesses to the country and help them with favourable trading conditions etc.

What's also interesting is that Liverpool is very much a Labour stronghold, and has been for a long time. I wonder what the local reaction to this will be.

No need to shout, however you're right. We desperately need reforming after 14 years of failed Tory rule.

Our money shouldn't go to those twxts.

As for Trump's opinion: look at who he appointed this month.

And he is himself unqualified for his role... Just like Reform in this country.

Men who enjoy this site and also want Reform in power do not understand what such a prospect would entail.

Because majority of British people read their cheap manifesto and decided not to vote for them . Same as Brexit party , it was a tiny crap leaflet full of empty . People obviously can’t trust Nigel Farage , who is a massive liar in numbers , a proper clown who cares more about Trump rather than Clacton , ruined the uk with his Brexit party but then didn’t have balls to take any responsibility after Brexit. Oh also with his hero, recently a Nazi boy Elon musk shows which direction he wants to take us.

Companies have no loyalty to particular countries. The reason AZ and others like Amazon go to Ireland is they have fixed their corporation taxes very low which attracts the business.

Where our governments of all sorts have failed is by not providing an environment conducive to doing business and then allowing those foreign based companies to use our infrastructure for free so UK businesses cant compete.

Another point is we are paying a huge amount more for electricity which also makes our industry less competitive.

The bulk of economic growth comes from international investment. International investors have very little confidence in the current government coupled with what they described "the UK's 3rd World infrastructure". Hence the reason the previous government were focused on HS2 and a revamp of Heathrow. The latter was strongly voted against by Starmer, Reeves and others when they were in opposition. International investors had more confidence in the last government because they saw Sunak as someone as a business ally, more than a prime minister.

It's all in lord Harrington's review

Yep, the party that transformed lives after the war, built the NHS, protected workers rights etc, etc, (It's late and I can't be arsed, you all know the truth...) & is a total contrast to the thieving, corrupt scoundrels of the last 14 years

You're exactly right, in the US Trump has the option to select people for the positions that have the experience and capabilities of doing the job.

The UK only have the choice from elected MP's so it's a matter of selecting the best of a bad bunch.

We saw the example of this with the Tories and the prime ministers they went through, each choice got progressively worse.

Spot on! The new govt needs time to turn the ship around, too many thickos who believe what they read in the Daily Mail and what they hear on GB News, think it should all be fixed overnight and if not then it's all Labour's fault. It's ridiculous. I also despair that there is a sizeable group of men here who think Reform and everything they embody isn't at odds with their lifestyle. Blinkered isn't the word for it. Wake up.

Nazi is a German abbreviation of their party from the 1930s, the brown shirts were an English party. Although politically similar it was you who used the word "nazi" first.

I certainly isn't a poison factory but the rest of your question has already been answered. The factory would bring employment for many people and therefore be a boost for both the local and national economies.

Labour Government Approval stands at a dismal 17%

Current net favorability ratings of all party leaders are pretty dire too

Good, and I hope they ban the import of their health damaging injections and pills. We pay for the research, and they don't bother to test the products correctly. Then they launch them on the gullible public to damage their health so that they become dependent on their pills and snake oil.

btw - We still haven't seen Brexit yet. The Eton/Oxford elite are still restricting our exit and independence.

Dream on sunshine. The Eton/Oxfod elite, Johnson Rees Moggy, Gove got Brexit done. They told you time and time again. Those with any sense wanting to remain were told to suck it up cos "we won"

What did you win? You are out. No-one is restricting your exit. You are gone. Kaput.

You have your independence. You can't have it both ways...winning a dodgy referendum then complaining that you are not out or it's not quite what you wanted...

The problem, very simply, is… we all know what the current prospect (Labour) entails, and we can see what the last prospect (Tory) entailed.

Plus, given they're two sides of an identical coin, stuck in the same group-think, people are understandably seeking a break with a system and parties that have delivered little (and show little prospect of delivering).

Definition of insanity: To keep doing the same thing (Labour / Tory), and expect a different result.

So, gambling on Reform, irrespective of what that may entail, feels like a no worse prospect than what the last 20 years has (not) delivered.

I’m not saying it’s a good approach, but it is appealing to more and more… in the US, in Europe, and here.

Times are changing… best strap in as many won’t enjoy the ride, I'm sure!
