"Yes, that’s correct, there were discussions about me joining Bayern. It was after Manuel Neuer got his injury at the World Cup a couple of years ago. Basically, everything was kind of agreed and it just fell through at the last second. You would have to ask Bayern what the problem was.

"I’m not 100% sure what happened, but I was kind of on my way to the airport. Unfortunately, it didn’t materialise. It would have been a dream to have played for a club like this, but it wasn’t to be.

"Everything happens for a reason. I’m very happy with where it’s brought me now. Sometimes life works in funny ways. I’m delighted to now be with Celtic.

My grandfather loved German football and Bayern Munich are kind of the flagship of German football, so he always talked about them.

"It’s a club that I’ve followed from an early age. It’s great to play against them, but it would be even greater if we could pull off something. I spoke to the hierarchy. I knew what my role was going to be. It was keeping the seat warm until Manuel came back. And I was more than fine with that

"To have played for a club of this stature would have been more than enough. I said: "Send the contract!" - I don’t even need to know what it is. I’ll sign it anyway.

So, yeah, it would have been a dream come true, but it wasn’t to be. And it’s brought me here now with Celtic. So I’m very happy with that as well."

- Kasper Schmeichel

Bayern can't get out of 2nd gear.

We've been super compact.

Keep 'em out until added time, when Schmeichel heads the equaliser from a corner and we can win on penalties!

A cruel way to lose but that was the best Celtic away performance in Europe I think I've ever witnessed.

Every single player should feel immensely proud of their performance. The progress made since the Dortmund debacle has been superb.

To go toe to toe with Bayern in the manner we did was a joy to watch.

We can be Heroes and we are.

Heads held high and the quality of football was wonderful. As Brendan says we need a few more quality players to bolster the squad and then to bring on off the bench to clinch games like these.

A proud night and a painful night but "We are Celtic supporters faithful through and through over and over we will follow you"

Thank you Brendan and thank you Bhoys you did the World wide support and the fans in the Allianz proud.

Now we lick our wounds and show pride in our way of life and we kick on , league to be won , Scottish cup to be won.

Champions league millions now banked and the team will be stronger for next season.

The future is so bright I have to wear green shades.

AJ really impressed last night. Schlupp's physicality has enhanced the team as well.

In the aftermath what is imperative is that the Board stop messing around and give Brendan a new contract and £20m to spend in the summer!

Taylor's attacking skills work in Scotland; Schlupp's defensive qualities work in Europe.

He's got the squad to win it all in Scotland.

It's a stronger squad in Europe he needs.

Scottish football is never going to attract the type of talent in the Bayern squad.

That's nothing to do with money.

Rising stars will come to Celtic.

Brenda's job is to develop them and persuade them to stay and thrive.

Did you see the interview with Brenda on Amazon?

Where he accepts he had unrealistic expectations about the club's finances during his first spell.

He seems more realistic this time round about the route to success.

We certainly don't want to go down the I-brokes route of offering a mega-bucks contract to Ronaldo (the Brazilian one) and telling him he only needed to turn up for the European games.

Ronaldo was at Barcelona in 1997 and FIFA World Player of the Year.

"They told us he didn't have to play on a Saturday in the Scottish league. They were desperate to win the Champions League and were going to allow him to play in the European matches only."

"But Inter had followed him from when he used to play in Brazil. Barcelona reneged on a new contract and Inter were the first club to meet the release clause, so he went there."

Absolutely, yes you can see the change in Brendan he is really back to establish his unfinished business and building a team for a serious challenge to win a European trophy 🏆, I honestly believe, (although we would lose all that money) that we get into the Europa League and do a West Ham, only playing better. Can he be our Unai, did Seville win it 3 times .. We could I think with a couple more quality players and build a real Champions League team via that for a long term future in Europe.
