"… 85,000 reported cases in England in the last year, more cases than in the whole of mainland Europe… "

This claim isn’t even correct anyway. Where did you get this information from or did you just make it up?

https://www.ecdc.europa.eu/en/news-events/sti-cases-continue-rise-across-europe

“In 2023, nearly 100 000 confirmed cases of gonorrhoea were reported in EU/EEA countries, showing a 31% increase compared to 2022 and a striking increase of more than 300% compared to 2014. This surge was observed across different age groups and demographics, including men who have sex with men (MSM), and heterosexual men and women. The highest rates among women were within the age group 20 to 24 and this is also the group with the steepest increase in 2023 (46%). For men, the highest rates were seen in the 25 to 34-year-old age group. If left untreated, gonorrhoea can lead to significant health problems, such as pelvic inflammatory disease, and infertility in both men and women.”

We’re not an EU/EEA country so do not form part of these figures; the EU/EEA does not contain all of mainland Europe; if you think that countries such as Romania or Bulgaria although supposedly part of these figures have accurate gathering of data on sexual health, you’re living in CloudCuckooLand.

I’ve read your post very carefully. As another user says it reeks of patronising euergetism and bigotry. You railed against the fact that the US is withdrawing such financial aid but you now have no argument to explain why the US is somehow responsible for this anti-contraception colonialism and r@pe crimes that you state make this aid necessary.

It’s a certain Mr Starmer who takes the responsibility for reducing overseas aid not “people with my views”. Not that you have the remotest clue what my views are.

So - who is responsible for this anti-contraception indoctrination and r@pe crimes? And who should be providing financial assistance because of them? What is your actual argument? Or are you just bandying about evocative and emotionally charged terms for effect and don’t really have any argument at all…?

I know you've got a hard on for me but you need to chill.

Sub Saharan Africa was colonised by Christian countries and had it imposed on them along with colonial anti gay laws. These stigmas are a major reason they don't use condoms.

During civil wars, most wars including Ukraine r@pe is used as a war crime. So in countries with high prevalence of HIV it is also used to deliberately infect women.

So the aid we provided helped with education, to lessen the stigma, with lowering the cost of drugs and condoms.

Starmer made the decision because it was more palatable for people who dislike our soft power through foreign aid.

Hope your satisfied

I can reassure you that you don’t make me hard. All I’ve been doing is pressing you to justify the sweeping statements you make. But you never can.

You have a very warped and guilt-riddled view of how the state of our world has evolved.

Again you provide no argument about why the US or the UK should pay the lion’s share of HIV treatments in the 3rd world apart from the fact we should all somehow feel guilty of colonialism.

The huge impact of Catholicism on sexual health in the 3rd world and the often baneful views of Islam about women’s treatment and reproductive health is ignored utterly. Neither of those major world religions are very gay-friendly one might note too. You want to blame everything on Christianity and anti-gay colonialism. Because it’s safely blaming nasty white men. What a sock-puppet you are.

If you look for something, you find it.

Testing for STIs has increased through the availability of home test kits, for example. Isn’t it just common sense to test every three months if you are having different partners? You can’t rely on anyone to tell you the truth, especially on here, if they had an infection. One quick read of these threads tells you so many rely on the “ I haven’t got any symptoms” method. STIs in the throat rarely if at all, have symptoms. You can’t rely on anyone apart from yourself.

A previous pope was telling Africans to not use condoms when aids was really at its peak. It reminds me of the pilgrims in America giving small pox infected blankets to the native Americans or the Australian settlers putting ground up glass in flour that was given to aboriginal people. A slow and painful death ensued.

As for the USA and UK paying towards curing diseases - it's not that difficult to comprehend the logic. The Germans were a cancer during WW2 that were spreading and needed to be cut out. It was a world wide effort and had more countries been unified in resistance quicker, it may not have gotten to the point it did. (Oversimplified but you get what I mean)

If we look at the efforts of a world wide approach - polio and small pox have been eradicated. As long as pocket of a disease remain, it can change and come back.

Some academic estimates place smallpox's death toll at 300 million in the twentieth century, and 500 million in its final hundred years of existence.

So it's actually irrelevant who is to blame. The point is that it's an issue for humanity - no amount of privilege makes us immune. We have to attack diseases on a global scale.

It affects all of us, and it's only a matter of time before another world wide disease epidemic occurs. Look at how easy we can travel across continents now. Wouldn't it be good if we were equipped with better strategies to deal with it. The selfish approach is likely to screw us all over. "2 heads are better than one".

It's not like Africa has nothing to contribute to the world. An large cohort of the worlds valuable and most useful resources spread across 50+ nations with large populations. They're just still messed up from colonisation and corruption. Should people of today feel guilty? The simple answer is NO although it's quite nuanced. Should we try help them. Yes. It literally benefits everyone in the long run.

How did we get from sti's to this lol.

"85,000 reported cases in England in the last year, more cases than in the whole of mainland Europe. Anybody worried?

Maths isn't my strong point but i work that out to be a 1:470 chance of catching it (statistical assumptions were used).🤔"

Hang on, that doesn't include bi guys. Make that 1:588.🤕

You can get the Gonorrhoea jab on the NHS from your local sexual health clinic. Two jabs, a month apart, makes your arm sore for a couple of days.

But that's another reason to use a condom. Too many people rely on STI clinics to heal them and treat them. One day there's going to be a virus or a bacterium that's not curable.

Think about that. Just my point of view; you have the freedom to choose what you want to do.

but it's only between 40 and 50% effective apparently so the risk remains. Better than nothing I guess.

"Hi, not proud of the fact and I know I should have been careful.

I've been told a guy who gave me oral 2 week ago has Gonorrhea and now I have discharge.

Long story short, sexual health clinic nurse is a family friend so can't attend, can I buy treatment online and have any of you bought online and can recommend.

Thanks. "

Simply go to a service in a different town. It is completely anonymous. Good luck.

"The cum buckets on here aren't worried.... they'll tell you they're on prep and doxyprep so they're bulletproof....and if all else fails a big syringe of penicillin to save you from gonorrhoea and stage 2 syphilis....

You won’t need to worry, Chloe, as you never have sex and haven’t met anyone off here. But you have your forum to keep you occupied, so all’s good.

If you think that and it gets you off...good for you...it's a choice to put verifications on a profile...I choose not to...mwah...X...

I’m sure the hunt for couples aged 49 to 50 only when you can neither accommodate nor travel is going really well. But in the meantime, make sure you lecture everyone else about their sex lives. "

Sounds like a case of anger issues here with the unsolicited passive aggression. Ignore this person Chloe

Just look after yourself. HPV, MenB and Doxy are tools to protect.
