The ending of Starman with Jeff Bridges always makes me sad, as he leaves and tells her he will never be back. She is pregnant with an aliens child, could have been a great sequel, but they never made one.

More votes here for 'Up' and 'The Green Mile', but 'Stepmom' is another one for me.

And this may seem silly being a fully grown adult, but 'The Snowman' still gets to me too. The boy's face when he realises his friend has melted away is just so sad. It's a wonderful piece, but I still try and avoid watching it again.

Beautiful Thing (1996)

Story of 2 young lads on a working class estate in south London. Both trying navigate their sexuality and ultimately falling in love, at a time when being gay still wasn't accepted by many in society.

Very true to life with believable characters and story line.

Makes me cry, probably because it's how I wanted my own life to be and so can totally relate. I just didn't get the happy ending.

Totally worth watching.
