We went out for a meal last night Loverly food and service But when the bill came there was a 10% service charge expected
I challenged the manager why was a service charge requested She said it was compulsory I said then it should be built into the cost of the meal and not tagged on at the end
It riles me when a price is quoted then extras are added like booking fees service charges ect It’s a disingenuous practice in my opion
I have never felt comfortable with giving tips It harks back to the days when the lower class should be gratefull for the coppers given by the better off
I would love see the custom disappear People should paid the fair wage for the work they do and not be reliant tips
I was in the Stated a free years ago where tips are expected regardless of the level of service provided As we as the 20% service charge applied to the meal ect
Rant over
