How much preparation is involved in organising the funeral? The logistics must be a nightmare with so many people present plus world leaders etc

Have it on in the background, what a spectacle, love it!

The funeral would follow a very strict protocol I would think, maybe with some deviation if requested by the Pope.

You obviously have no idea about Mr Trump ? and stopping war in Ukraine looking after USA putting them first.

The only modern day President to have never started a war .

Getting rid all rubbish out their country , while we import all criminal elements from Africa and Middle East

Where they let thousands prisoners out on the proviso they left Middle East moved to Europe.

That was the Emirates cleric said that.

We got rid criminals and unemployable unwanted unintelligent.

And those who have terrorist thought We don’t want them here . . You don’t see their behaviour here as you do in Europe. How true he is .

How did Mr Trump , let this labour Government off the hook , after what they said about him . Is absolute miracle. Mind you he probably thinks Starmer, and Rayner Lammy just bunch ignorant cunts .

Different countries and different culture wear various colours for funerals. Purple in considered a suitable colour in some places. Traditionally--possibly pre-Victorian--British royalty wore white at funerals. I doubt Trump is being disrespectful.

I might also add I cannot see anything wrong with him having talks with Zelenskyy. They are in the same place and this awful Ukraine war needs bringing to an end. I rather think HH Pope Francis would approve of them trying to resolve this today.

I wholeheartedly agree _ildwesthero, funeral attire varies across cultures, and what's considered respectful differs globally.

Regarding President Trump's actions, he's clearly not being disrespectful, and his talks with Zelenskyy could be a valuable step towards ending the Ukraine war.

Pope Francis's emphasis on dialogue and peace-making would likely support such efforts with the focus on promoting understanding and peaceful resolutions.

They are used to doing a good big catholic mass at the Vatican. I'm sure they'll have an e-mail list for the world leaders too. Those Swiss guards might look a bit daft, but they are as well trained as any army, so security is taken care of too.

Ah but you see none of those other religious leaders. Were head of a church that broke away from Rome. Also none of them were UK Monarchs, whose protocols do not allow attending Papal funerals. Look at any coin in your pocket it will say on it FD (Fidei Defensor) Defender of the Faith. Chuckles wanted that changed to defender of Faiths at his Coronation. The change wasn’t allowed. So he took the Oath as a Protestant.

Catholic’s are still denied full citizen rights in the UK. You can’t be one and Prime Minister nor have rights of succession.

It wasn’t Chuckles place to go. Our unwritten constitution didn’t allow it. Hence he sent his boy.

You can’t blame him for your ignorance, and that’s coming from a true republican

Slight error here. Catholics are allowed to be prime minister. We have had one. Boris Johnson was received into the Catholic Church during his premiership.

There is only one limitation on a Catholic exercising the duties of a prime minister; he or she may not advise the monarch on the naming of a bishop in the Church of England. Whilst other non-Anglican PMs may do so, when the matter arose during the premierships of atheists or conformants of other creeds, I understand the Lord Chancellor or the Lord President of the Council have proffered the advice.

The only political office from which a Catholic is barred is the Second Church Estates Commissioner.

Boris was baptised a Catholic in the USA but when attending Eton he was confirmed as an Anglican. He did have one of his many children baptised catholic during his premiership. However it would be difficult to consider him as such. After all none of his marriages have been in a catholic church. Nor have any been annulled. The Catholic Church doesn’t recognise divorce.

Even Tony Blair waited until he was out of Number 10 before converting.

The Old Testament is a mixture of allegory, history, outdated rules for a desert people, and prophesy. Christianity stems entirely from the New Testament. Not even sure that either the Jehovah's Witnesses--whom I can't make head nor tale of--or the Mormons--based on some dubious writing of a 19thC. American--can truly be described as Christians.

For those of us who don’t Roman Catholicism is the perfect example of the huge and unsurmountable contradictions in Christianity

Wait to you realise that the "god" of the old testament actually changes about half way through...

They are not the same "being"...

That's a theological headache and a half...

Yes and it’s a real problem for Christian Apologetics and most of the fringe sects Like the Jehovah Witnesses and Mormons

Yes but isn't Christmas nice even it's a pagan celebration ? "

Yes, Christian festivals are just a reskin of pagan originals.

Makes me laugh when I see my godfearing mother buying Easter eggs and those chocolate bunnies... Pagan symbolism is strong in her Catholic house... Shhh don't tell the priest...

"How much preparation is involved in organising the funeral? The logistics must be a nightmare with so many people present plus world leaders etc"

The funeral plan of a head of state is normally drawn up shortly after their appointment.

For example, palace officials will already have discussed with Charles the plan for his, and there will be a huge document setting out all the arrangements.

That's just an assumption. Israel's brutality against the Palestinians has been going on for decades.

Funny how those who turn a blind-eye to Israel's industrial scale slaughter forget this.

Israel has committed more than one massacre itself over the years.

That there London, mostly

"…

Catholic’s are still denied full citizen rights in the UK. You can’t be one and Prime Minister nor have rights of succession …

"

Boris was baptised by a catholic priest - this however makes one a Christian but not catholic as any Christian can baptise. He was confirmed by a CoE bishop whilst attending CoE services so was dogmatically as well as self reverentially an Anglican. It is confirmation that Catholics, Angilcans and Orthodox hold that confirms one’s faith and one’s denomination. Catholics and Orthodox regard each others’ confirmations (and marriages and ordinations and Eucharist as valid) but neither recognise the confirmation of the Anglican communion as sacramental though they do recognise it as being definitive as to one joining a schismatic communion.

Borris’s marriage in the CoE to a CoE conformant by a CoE priest was viewed from Catholic theology as spiritually invalid but temporally legal. His divorce saw the end of the legal marriage so when he relieved the Rite of Confirmation again from a Catholic bishop he was a conformant Catholic and without a Catholic or civil marriage, he could marry in a Catholic service which is both religious and legal in England.

He did so at Westminster Cathedral and subsequently he is a Catholic in full communion with Rome and with his fully communicated and Catholicly married wife.

Bombing hospitals was allegedly due to hamas using them as bases and hiding weapons there.

What is the justification of the heinous events of 7th October and then parading a dead teenage girl's half naked body on the rear of pick up truck with an encouragement for civilians to come over to truck and punch or slap the girls lifeless body.

"Indeed. Israel's apartheid means daily life for ordinary Palestinians is a dangerous grind. "

Israel is a secular democracy. All Israeli citizens, regardless of ethnicity or religion, have the same right to participate in society, including operating a business, employment rights, participation in the political process including standing as a candidate and equal protection under the law including the ability to practise law and be appointed to the judiciary. There are Israeli Muslims in the parliament and high court judges.

Israel left Gaza in 2005 and relocated all the remaining resident Israeli Jews. Gaza has been under the control and governance of the democratically elected Hamas government, with oversight and assistance from external agencies appointed by the UN and outwith the control of Israel.

The wall was there before.

Btw The International Court of Justice, 2024 found that Israels occupation of Palestinian territories amounts to systematic discrimination re Article 3 of the International Convention Of The Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

Btw2 Many would disagree-including Israeli Academics- that Palestinians living in Israel are treated equally.

Thats a separate issue however from the imposed structural and institutionalised apartheid that courses daily life for Palestinians.

To be fair, he should know how to behave.

Should be able to check the acceptable dress codes and has the means to follow them.

He actually tweeted that he was looking forward to being there with Melania.

He is an absolute disgrace.

"Wise after the event."

A well understood, and psychologically healthy, coping mechanism for attempting to deal with the real horrors that exist.

The real horrors that come to the surface when people are sleekit are fairly.... interesting.

Cop-outs that will of course fool some but not all.

Such are the vagaries..

Is it genocide?

Urban warfare will always be brutal. Civilian casualties will always be high when the combatants are embedded and indistinguishable, and when the distinction between military and civilian targets has been deliberately obfuscated. Israel does have the capability to carpet bomb the entire region, but have chosen not to.

I've tried a few times to drag some of them back but it's like herding cats.

"That disrespectful cunt is wearing blue. Yes, Trump

What colour is zelinskys suit ?"

Zelenskyy didn't wear a suit.

That disrespectful cunt Prince William wore a blue suit too. Maybe the palace, like the White House, know that that's fine at an Italian Funeral.

Far from new and well aware that most threads--especially political or semi-political one--tend to go right off topic. Used to be turning thread to Brexit. Then anti-Boris. Now, more recently, anti-Trump.

"That disrespectful cunt is wearing blue. Yes, Trump

By addressing him as "Mr," trump would likely think you were an "ignorant cunt!" 😂 The narcissistic, convicted con man and sexual predator prefers 'Sir,' or 'President.'"

Probably safer with 'Dictator' or Dick Head'.

Odious and incompetent. Unless attempting to crash your own economy is seen as bright?

"The Vatican isn't really about religion. It's the 3rd most significant dynasty in the empire created by the Knights Templar. This rules Westminster, Washington and the EU amongst othe countries"

I have no religion myself but wasn't the Vatican established in the 4th century & the Knights Templar in the 12th?
