How to begin!

Firstly, This site is often maligned for its imperfections or not living upto someone's ideal.

Very few things are perfect in life.

But this forum allows me to ramble about many subjects. And what follows is my personal thoughts.

26 months ago I lost my wife of 46 years to Vascular Dementia an evil disease.

For 18 months I was totally bereft. No family or friends to console me or confide in.

As with all things there comes a time when you realise that life goes on regardless.

So In September last year I joined a dating site thinking I was looking for a female companion. That didn't happen. But I was getting many requests from guys. Wanting all sorts of things. Which reminded me of my encounters with guys in the early 70s. That site was very expensive and restrictive. I found FG in January and joined. Admittedly by the end of February I had screwed up my first account. So rejoined in March and rebuilt my account.

But in all my time here I've had conversations with guys from all over the UK and I've met some great guys. Everyone in their own way has helped me regain a reason to go on in life albeit unbeknownst to them. I've gained confidence I never knew I had. Particularly in my Bisexual lifestyle. I believe I'm a better person now. More rounded.

So guys in my area, the UK and this forum.

I thankyou.

From the heart of my bottom!

Fuck, what am I saying, I'm a TOP.

I mean thankyou from the bottom of my heart.

You've helped me keep my sanity aswell.

I write this not for sympathy or any other personal gain.

I write it because I can.

It’s a very sad background to why you have ended up here and I’m sorry for your loss of someone who was so integral to your life.

Well done to you for the transition you have made in life and for going out there and making the most of it. And there is nothing corny about being able to write about that in the way you have. Very few of the men who use this site have the temerity or honesty or grace to have written as you have.

Your post was neither cheesy nor corny.

It was honest and heartfelt. I'm truly sorry for your loss. It must have been very hard.

However, you still have a life to live and enjoy, and I'm sure she wouldn't want you moping around being miserable.

Make the most of it, live it to the full, and try to spend some of it doing the things that brought you joy together.

Try to be the reason that someone smiles each day.

Thankyou so much for your support.

I'm the first to acknowledge that every guy on here has a personal story that could be told. Struggles, heartbreak and strife from the start and some that continue still today.

But FG is an educator too. In some strange way its like an extended family albeit dysfunctional at times.

But if you ask a question, someone will provide an answer.

Theres more to FABGUYS than just the obvious reasons why we're all here.

Thankyou Guys.

You have my respect!

I'm in the same situation, lost my wife of 47 years, eight years ago. It's very hard to get your life back together again.

Thanks for your candour John. My sincere condolences too; I lost a dear friend to vascular dementia some years ago so can only imagine how tough that was for you, and for your wife living with it.

It sounds like you're able to enjoy brighter days and long may that continue.

I am going through that now with my wife. She had Alzheimer’s dementia and if she survives a couple more days we will have been together 43 years, married 42. Your post has helped me realise that life can go on😢

Well said fella.

I don't block anyone on Fab because it's a community and I like to talk to guys.

I've had some lovely conversations with lads on here I'm not remotely attracted to sexually, and vice versa most probably!

Had a tough year mentally so I came off Fab for a while, but talking is healthy and I missed the ability to be able to talk openly to guys I don't know personally.
