Ok so I see on some profiles if you don’t do BB then not interested, well believe it or not when I left the army in 88 in London I was doing security and one of our clients houses we had to check a few times a night, very nice chap bumped into him a couple of times and he even made me a brew. His name Freddy Mercury! That’s what made me think BB !!! Are you fucking mad or what ? Have you learned nothing at all? I was sad when he died as I really never knew about his promiscuity, you lot going BB need a reality check. I’m expecting fall out from this message but I really don’t care, I worked in Sierra Leone and saw all to well how HIV spread like wild fire. Get a grip !!!!

Well, what a judgemental post.

The biggest preventable cause of cancer in the UK is smoking.

The second biggest cause of preventable cancer is being overweight.

You state on your profile that you are chubby.

Are you going to make lifestyle and dietary changes?

When I was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago, as a gay man I thought it ironic that HIV can be managed and with the right medication no longer kills. Cancer is much more unpredictable.

So, maybe apply the logic of your own post go your diet and lifestyle. You might live longer and healthier.

There is no "but" with Prep, it's been approved as a treatment to prevent HIV by people who understand medicine and diaease

How else does anyone explain your ignorance of science in 2025, when you appear to be living in 1988.

Irrespective of the argument for vs against BB and notwithstanding PrEP itself doesn't prevent you from picking up normal STIs anyway it makes absolute sense to be on PrEP as 1) it is free and 2) it's a no-brainier defense against contracting HIV which a course of antibiotics can't fix.

I'm ex army, are you telling me that as an ex squaddie you never had unprotected sex, ffs the army is rife for unwanted pregnancies and STDs

I've also done Africa, and it's a lit different now than before, just like UK there's a lot been invested into education etc

I think we all appreciate your comment, but we have a choice to do what we like. It doesn't mean that you have to follow suit. We all have the freedom of choice. Unless you wish to follow the political correctness and become a sheep.

And when it comes to prep, you can thank me for that and fourteen other people from Bristol, I don't know how many others were involved around the UK or the world, who took part in these big trials for the NHS to fight the spread of HIV. I was a guinea pig. I took prep (tenofovir disoproxil and emtricitabine) for 30 days, and then was injected with live HIV and was monitored for 6 hours. Then tested five weeks later. I signed various documents at the gum clinic. As I did unprotected sex when HIV was at its peak (High infection rate), I thought I might as well do something, get free medication... This is when Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) was working. The treatment before prep.

I didn't fully understand what I was taking part in. All I know is that I was getting free medication. The doctors knew, and I knew the risk of me possibly getting HIV was quite high. So was my normal activity. It was a success, now you have prep.
