Initially, when I began registering with them in 2004, everything was fine. I could create accounts with various users as many as I desired. However, they soon started deleting accounts associated with googlemail.com. After that, they announced that Gmail accounts would expire if not used for an extended period. Subsequently, they requested that we add security questions. Then, they began blocking access if we changed our location or computer. They also asked us to provide a telephone number, which was manageable. Recently, however, they have started requesting our home addresses. I can only assume that next, they will want to know the colour of our underwear; otherwise, we won't be able to log in. I understand they monitor our activities, but seriously, why do they need to know the colour of my underwear? Lol.

I have a few Gmail accounts and don't give private information if possible.

However, I have two other accounts now that are brilliant in security.

Tutamail and Protonmail

Curious about why I need to provide that information over the years? I am quite certain that many of them were required.

I've never had to provide any further information for my Gmail account other than the initial sign up which I'm guessing must have been about 20 years ago

I'm not entirely certain, to be honest. I believe that if you forget your password or change your location, they will begin to request additional information.
