And sometimes wear the kilt with socks n boots when on Edinburgh pub crawls and rugby

Bet you get a few questions about what's under your kilt?

Which recalls the joke about the 2 American ladies visiting Edinburgh, they spot a magnificent rugged looking man wearing his kilt.

Graciela says to her fiend " do you think he wears anything underneath" Her friend says "Well go go and ask him" so she does. He says nothing but lifts the front of his Kilt'

Shocked, she puts her hand to her mouth and says "How gruesome!" to which the Scotsman says " Take another look lady, it just grew some more"

It's always amazing just how often in a busy pub someone attempts to lift your kilt, mind you I'm always disappointed if this doesn't happen, prefer when it's a man who does it

One of my friends is very well endowed and wears his kilt and full regalia. When out socialising his sporran protrudes so much lol such a wonderful sight and he is a true Scotsman, when he dresses normally he wears big long tops to cover his bulge too . Fabulous guy and lover. Mx 🌹⚛️

I have two proper ones and two imposters. I used to wear them much more when I lived in Brighton but haven't worn one for a few years now. I love them - to wear and to see a man in one.

I was always being asked if I had anything on under it. My standard answer was "Get down on your knees and look". That usually stopped all but the bold ...

True but the full outfit allows you to legally carry a Dirk,

Don't tell the neds or they will all be running around stabbing each other with dirks (large dagger / small swords)

it is legal to wear both a dirk and a sgian dubh with a kilt, especially in formal or ceremonial settings. The sgian dubh is a small knife worn in the sock, while the dirk is a larger knife worn on the belt.

A dirk is a longer knife, usually with a 12-inch blade, that is worn on the belt. It's also a part of traditional Scottish attire, often worn with formal or ceremonial kilts.

Wearing Both:

While you can wear both, it's more common to see the sgian dubh worn as part of everyday or casual attire, while the dirk is more reserved for formal occasions. The dirk can also be worn with a kilt jacket.

Legality:

In the UK, carrying a dirk or sgian dubh is generally legal when worn as part of Scottish national dress.

Have a nice day now.

The increase in kilt hire shops not just in Scotland and elsewhere has increased the number of kilt wearers, it's a great national dress

Not at all I have had sex wearing my friends full regalia as a TV, sgian dhu and all,(but no Dirk that's Pride of place on his fireplace wall) as has he with me when he wears it all. Go for it, it's very smart and sexy look but gets very very hot very quickly lol .

We went to a family wedding in Cambridge a few years ago. I think there were 20 of us in full highland dress. My wife wore her kilt that day too. With a velvet jacket, ruffled blouse, black tights, and without a sporran.

There is no such thing as a girls kilt, but we were informed that ladies could wear one without the sporran.

As a guy who often wears a skirt or dress. I always feel very masculine in highland dress

"I love wearing my kilt as often as I can , is there many kilt wearers on this site, I think a man in a kilt is so sexy"

I used to but I got sexually assaulted by a group of “friends” just because I was wearing it and threw it in the bin the following day.

A shame, it was my 21st birthday present from my dad. But I couldn’t face seeing it ever again.

Wearing a kilt in England is sometimes a challenging habit.

A traumatic, soul destroying experience, I sincerely hope that the louts responsible face justice. Losing a meaningful gift is tough, but your dad's love and pride in his heritage remain, I'm sure. Maybe one day you'll acquire another kilt and wear it with love and pride! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The ex-wife invited me and the then-boyfriend to her next wedding.

I took him to Hector Nicol in Inverness and they dolled him up lovely in the full regalia.

He's 6ft and ex-solider, so he has the frame to carry off the Highland dress.

I wore the (ladies) tartan trews, jacket and glengarry.

Quite a few tourists stopped us and asked if they could get a picture with us lol

A guy who works in my local Sainsbury's always wears a kilt and the tasseled socks etc he doesn't have a Scottish accent. That doesn't mean he is not of Scottish ancestry. He is bearded and late 40s I'd say. It really suits him. I see him a lot. Not because I have a thing for a bearded man in a kilt. Which obviously I do. He manages the wine and spirits section

Yes enough with the kilt police

Thankfully we've moved into a modern era of men wearing kilts in any style, fabric or tartan doing away with the stereotyped kiltie . Even full modern Highland regalia has moved forward, i.e. black kilt, black hose.

With this freedom of wearing the kilt the way you want to and not conforming to kilt police standards brining a greater number of kilt wearers who just don't hire a kilt but buy one

I have a kilt and balmoral jacket, but qlso have proper trews ( not tartan golf trousers!) which get worn more than the kilt these days. My tartan is the smartest of the lot: Gordon!

Yes Gordon is a beautiful tartan but I don't like trews, kilt is a much better dress for men
