I'm not there yet, but time is ticking away, and things aren't what they were. I'm sure that applies to many.

It would be interesting to hear about how people have managed this situation.

And it might help others.

First visit GP. as you maybe pre-diabetic, as your BMI may be high, or high blood pressure, if a smoker, quit.

don't rely on google or the "experts" on here

See your GP to check whether you are medically fit to take :

Viagra

OR

Testosterone Therapy

OR

Vitamin B12 injection (every 3 months) AND Vitamin D.

Thanks guys. I'm not there yet but I can see the visit to the GP looming in the next couple if years.

I thought that raising (no pun intended) the subject now, would get people talking about the subject and might be useful.

I think any embarrassment about visiting the doc, would be far outweighed by the benefits of an improved sex life.

But viagra works only if you are sexually aroused. Never take viagra with nitrate oxide as it will lower your blood pressure which can cause death.

Testosterone Therapy has side effects such as prostate enlargement and cancer and blood clots risk assessment your blood thickens.

Sometimes Vitamin B12 is given if you are deficient to give you some energy and perhaps increased libido. It is stored in the liver. And the injection is given every 3 months.

I suggest a glucose blood test. The reason is if you are pre-diabetc or Type 2 diabetic, it may lead to erectile dysfunction.

Just go and see your GP, don't rake advice on this on here

I'm on prescription Sildenafil 25 mg 3 times a day for a non sex related condition, but it has the required affect downstairs as I think about sex often, I'm usually hard often

But you really should go ralk to your gp

Taking aphrodisiacs like horny goat etc can be risky as they will affect your liver and kidney function.

See your GP is safer as your GP will test your blood every 6 months or every year to check your liver and kidney function that they are healthy.

I thought it was just age that gave me soft elections, and going soft during sex, but it turned out that I have Low Testosterone levels and this was the problem.

My GP gave me the option of TRT - Testosterone Replacement and told me of both the benefits and possible risks

The next consideration was family planning and he asked if we intended to have more children of which we said no.

He said TRT is for life and it's the best decision I have made, I have the energy of my 20's and erections

I recently read that blue pills and brown bottles should never be used together. The combination can lead to severe low blood pressure. Otherwise, speak to you doctor or Pharmacist. Nothing to be embarrassed about. In fact celebrate the fact you are still sexually active.

On and get your PSA check if over 50. Better safe than sorry. That's prostate specific Antigen.

Good advice. I had my PSA test a few months back. It just involved a small prick.

Tired and stress account for a lot of first time ED.

Unfortunately as we age we have less energy and need more sleep but rarely get it.

Get Vit B12 injection from your GP every 3 months if your GP thinks you need it for energy and libido.

If you're going to give medical advice you need to get it right. There's no such thing as "nitrate oxide". You mean nitric oxide.

YES: testosterone replacement ensures that you have enough "Free" & "Bio" testosterone to feed and build your bone density

You may have borderline "Total" testosterone but your GP will not test free or bio testosterone

TRT is a valuable top up for gents aged 50+

I have been prescribed viagra for the last two years as I was unable to maintain a solid erection for long and sex was stop start. They work wonders for me and work for up to 12 hours whenever I am aroused again during that period.

I also produce virtually no semen when I ejaculate, just a dribble for some time afterwards. I mention this to the doc who put it down to age. Is there a solution to the problem as he didn’t offer me anything.

Prostate OK after a PSA test and examination.

I've been plagued with ED for about 8 years, on and off. By and large I've needed viagra. Prescribed by the GP. That completely improves the situation. Now on repeat prescription. However, in recent times I've found my ED problem has gone away. Nowadays I seem to be able to have sex again whilst maintaining a strong and solid erection without medication. How long this good spell will last, I'm not sure as Im late 50s now. But I'm loving it. I have to conclude mine must have been down to psychological reasons all along. Possibly performance anxiety. I.e. once its happened once worrying that it will happen again and again. Which is a vicious circle. Also I think there has been a relationship issue which has impacted and that doesnt seem to be such an issue for me now. Weight loss might have helped, perhaps. I think just generally taking it easy and not worrying about this situation or life in general has helped. As well as refraining from ejaculating until Im really up for sex can improve the situation, I find. I hope my experience shared in this post helps someone. Message me if you want to know more. I'd be interested to hear your similar experiences. ED is a traumatic experience for a man, so it can help to talk confidentially to other guys whove experienced it. I found that.

I used to get Viagra on prescription but it was not always effective. I seldom get a an erection nowadays but still enjoy sex as a bottom.

Did your GP actually offer to prescribe it? Or refer to a consult with an endocrinologist?

What regiment did you get offered?

Spoke with my wife about my lack of erection but as we don't have sex she wasn't overly concerned with it.

As a previous post says, don’t rely on google for health information.

A trial study has shown supplementing older men with vitamin D is unlikely to prevent or improve erectile dysfunction. (Randomised controlled trial by Briony Duarte Romero et al. Clin Nutr ESPEN. 2024 Apr.) Another study found no significant correlation between vit B12 levels and ED. (Correlation between erectile dysfunction and serum B12 levels: a 136-case cross-sectional analysis Mevlüt Keles et al. Andrology. 2024 Mar). Don’t just believe what the pill pushers say to get you to buy their product.
