I take PrEP event-based, as a precaution. I’m sure it makes me hornier and harder. Does anybody else find this?

PrEP gives me confidence by removing the anxiety about HIV. I cannot say it makes me any more aroused.

Going on Prep and all the associated activities around it give confidence about how you currently are. Knowing you are 100% clear of anything, rather than just assuming you are does change how you feel. Getting Prep and also protection through vaccinations for Hep A & B etc removes a lot of anxiety too.

Having sex with other men on Prep doesn't mean it's risk free at all, but you do know that you (and hopefully they) are being tested regularly so that will help with some of the STIs if you do get one.

The combination of this does make me feel hornier.

PREP is great for removing anxiety about HIV, but I also like the testing and knowing my status on a regular basis, and also the addition of doxypep takes any anxiety out of random meets, too between tests.

I don't take it all the time - when I do it can give me intense vivid dreams.

It's the placebo effect, a psychological phenomenon.... Increased Sexual Confidence:

Feeling protected from HIV can boost self-esteem and confidence, leading to a greater sense of sexual agency and enjoyment.

PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) is highly effective in preventing HIV when taken as prescribed, but it's not 100% risk-free.

When taken correctly, PrEP can reduce the risk of HIV transmission by up to 99%, according to the NHS. However, it's crucial to understand that PrEP only protects against HIV and does not prevent other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or pregnancy.

Consistent and correct use of PrEP, along with other preventative measures like condoms, is essential for maximizing protection.

Here's a more detailed explanation:

Effectiveness: PrEP, when taken daily, can reduce the risk of HIV infection by up to 99%.

Other STIs: PrEP does not protect against other STIs, such as syphilis, gonorrhea, or chlamydia. Condoms are still recommended for protection against these.

Pregnancy: PrEP does not prevent pregnancy.

Importance of adherence: Taking PrEP as prescribed is crucial for its effectiveness.

Other preventative measures: Using condoms, getting regular STI screenings, and knowing your partner's HIV status are also important for preventing HIV transmission.

Individualized approach: PrEP is recommended for individuals at high risk of HIV infection, and healthcare providers can help determine if PrEP is appropriate and how to use it effectively.
