Got a few small skin tags under my arms that are starting to irritate me. Anybody know of a good DIY way to remove them (preferably pain free!)?

I found a gadget that slips a rubber band round the tag and over a period of days or weeks it dies and falls off. Works quite well.

Whatever you use get it from the chemist so that you know it is safe.

Well know brand products:

Scholl Remove Skin tags at home

Boots cryptography skin tag remover

Scholl freeze away skin tag remover

There's a thing popping up on my FB feed. A pen type thingy that drops a small elastic band over the tag. Falls off withing a few weeks...

Just get some sewing thread, if you can pull it slightly, get someone to tie the thread round, won’t hurt.

Drops off in about 7 days.

I used a cut throat razor...

It only stings for a bit.

Llandrindod Wells

Bought some stuff from the chemist once. Had to apply it every night for a couple of weeks. Can't remember what it was called but it did the trick. No side effects other than it smelt revolting

Penzance

Tie a length of cotton thread tightly around the base and leave it alone. It will drop off after a few days

Ligature them with cotton use a surgeons knot, poachers knot or constrictor knot. Keep it clean and they’ll drop off in a few days with no pain.

Somewhere

I cut mine off at the base with very sharp sterilised scissors. Nipped a little then nothing.

Not recommended for large tags though.

I'd completely ignore the razor and scissors comments: using either would create an unnecessary risk of infection

I have taken very small ones off with a pair of end cutters. I sterilized the cutters and the site first with alcohol then applied lignocaine local anesthesia. Deep breath and snip! But of a scratch and some bleeding but fine. I confused in gp and her was fine.

I have a few skin tags. NHS won't remove them unless they repeatedly get caught and bleed. I tried the cotton tying method, and contrary to comments here, it was too painful, I had to cut the thread after only a few minutes. my flatmate got a freeze kit, and that did work, but he said it did hurt, not a lot, but for a good few days before the tag died. he's not trying it again! private clinics are your best bet, you can get multiple ones done at the same time, bulk but as it were... I'd personally never slice mine off myself, risk of bleeding and infection etc.

Currently trying the home freezing method for one or two of them.

No luck yet but I will persevere

They are usually a sign of insulin resistance, diabetes. Try a very low carbohydrate diet and they should disappear.

Had a couple on my neck removed at local doctors practice. Just said they caused irritation with my shirt and they said they'd remove them for me - little bit of local anaesthetic, no pain - all done in a couple of minutes.
