What are people's experiences good or bad with Sky Glass?, I am being offered £118pm 2 year contract which is about £25 less than I will be paying later if I let my contract run out.

Not got it myself - I use sky stream and my TV is connected to a satellite dish for freesat as we can’t get freeview where I live.

This means I am free to choose what make of TV I want and am not tied to sky for the TV itself. Just because you don’t aware that some channels are not available on Glass and Stream (talking pictures TV being one example but I can get that through Freesat).

If you have a good tv dont worry about the Sky Glass option.

Just go for Sky Stream, it'd the same but connects to your normal TV.

Everything Sky offers but through streaming, and everything is watchable at anytime . No more 'recording'

Best thing I've done, cheaper too.

It's a streaming service. 25% of your time will be spent watching ads

As long as you have reasonable broadband then either the Sky Glass or Sky Stream options are good and mean no more need for a dish. Personally I prefer the Stream because it means I can pick the TV and soundbar I want to use rather than being restricted to Sky’s one. We wanted an 85” screen which isn’t an option with sky glass and with the size of our lounge the integrated soundbar in the glass would have been lacking. If you want an all in one solution and are happy with the sizes offered by Sky then go for the glass, it is a reasonably decent piece of kit.

Not as such no, you add programs to your playlist and then you can watch them later, as it is all streamed there is no recording really.

I'm so used to it when friends/colleague say theyve recorded something it doesn't made sense to me.

With Stream no recording is needed, you just watch anything anytime.

Correct - there is no storage in the puck, you can add series to a playlist and when the episode has been on you can replay it when you like (so long as you don’t have a broadband outage).

This is what i don't get about streaming. On anything but iPlayer, the ads interrupt and you can't fast forward - only thing you can do is turn off the sound. As entertainment, i think it's absolute shite.

i'd far rather receive through my aerial into my PVR, use a time delay or record the program, and fast forward through the ads.

North London (outer)

I sacked Sky off nearly a year ago and don't miss it at all. I now have a Freesat recorder on one floor and a Freeview recorder in my basement.

I also have an Amazon Fire box on each floor, basically a Firestick but 4k and storage capacity. On each of those I have IPTV and Stremio so can watch whatever I like from around the world. Yearly cost is less than half of my previous monthly cost with Sky.

I have the option on sky stream to skip ads on anything that isn’t live

Yes but you have to pay them extra for that.

Quite simply the difference is that is live streaming. BBC iPlayer, ITV X etc. are catchup streaming services.

Generally I avoid any sort of contract where the service comes with hardware unless it is exceptional. All the sky hardware q boxes etc are poor quality and prone to failure, need frequent reboot etc.

My choice would be a decent fibre broadband supplier ( not sky) a good mesh router system ( put the one from your broadband supplier in the bin and buy tp-link or similar) a decent 4K tv (preferably Samsung that can receive Apple TV etc) and a sky q box as there’s no other sensible way to get the football. though with all the streaming channels there’s less and less need for sky for the other stuff these days

I've had it since more or less it came out. Happy enough with it until I got an offer from Virgin I couldn't knock back. So I'm now with them and have their box fed into an HDMI port. It works very successfully.
