A car is a car to me now, as long as it is comfortable, looks good, has a decent entertainment system and is economical then that's all I care about now, Asian cars are the best as come fully loaded, German cars cost loads for extras to be added.

There's so many cool cars from across the years that I'd want to collect, money no object.

But, as a daily driver, for practicality and fun factor, I'd go for a Mercedes AMG E63 estate. Not the new E53 hybrid version, but the previous model E63. 603hp. 0-60in 3.3secs, massive boot, loads of room and comfortable as fook.

Don't you find these days that all cars look the same. All the same basic shape. I assume it must have something to do with research and aerodynamics and the manufacturers have all agreed that this basic shape works.

Modern cars have to meet a lot of legislative criteria. One requirement is that in the event of collision with a pedestrian, the frontal area should deflect them sideways, not toss them into the air.

So many new cars today look the same. I've got a newish car, auto, press button start etc - lots of toys. What I'd love to have is a manual, petrol with a turn key and a nice exhaust sound. I'd really like an old Merc or Jaguar XJS or a Citroën DS from the 1970s. Cars with personality.

I must be getting old because a car for me is now about practicality etc. However yesterday there was a car in the outside lane of a dual carriageway next to me that was sleek, black and looked incredible. It was a Lotus Eletre 900.

Wolverhampton

I was lucky my dad liked nippy cars but changed every 2-3 years. Sold me me his and traded in the one I had.

I wish I could have kept 3 and stored them:

Mark 1 vw Golf GTI pillar box red

Mark 1 vw scirroco

Lancia Beta coupe

Less good were

Triumph Dolomite

Nissan Sunny

🤣

Everyday car would be a Rover P5B Coupe.

Weekends would be a Lambo 400GT or something of that ilk.

"I've long had a hankering for a Lancia Delta Integrale.

You beat me to it. I had a Lancia Delta. It was a beautiful machine. Temperamental on damp fays but a joy to drive. Lovely design but rusted before your eyes"

When I was young, somebody local had a Delta painted in the Martini racing livery. It looked amazing.

I've had a couple of P5 Rovers. Lovely cars and the look of amazement from drivers of moderns as you hammer past them on the motorway is sweet.

LONDON

I want the same car that members of the upper echelons of the Royal family use

It comes with free petrol, a chauffeur, no bills park where you like , never held up in traffic and those butch motorcycle outriders

Failing that a brand new Morris Minor Countryman. with hanging baskets/ window boxes and an inbuilt Labrador
