Manston Airport 90 minutes from London, which sits in easternmost Kent near Margate, is set for a comeback in 2028 after it was shut down in 2014.

Originally it was built in 1916 as an RAF base, Manston also operated as a commercial terminal until 2014.

It has been an overflow car park for the nearby ferry port, played host to events for aviation enthusiasts, and even been a set for the 2022 film Empire of Light.

I hope it does work, they put all that dual carriageway in for the ferry and the airport then stopped using em.

Bloody daft that companies ain’t encouraged to set up there,

Eh we n I lived in Kent I would have loved to have been able to take a flight from there rather than the faff of goin to Gatwick.

A bloody good port sat there dormant aswell.

They used to have passenger flights; EUJet did Manchester and a bunch of European destinations. Even KLM tried it. Simply not enough people to fill the planes

Just looked at it on the map. Bit like Stansted Airport - middle of nowhere, no large built up areas, and not that easy to get too so not really going to have the passenger base. Might work as a freight airport.

Ramsgate used to be a hover port if I remember correctly.

It only closed because of that bitch who brought it and asset Striped it. Did very well with cargo flights
