I use shotcut. I'm no expert, so don't know of there's better software, but ut was free and it's easy to use.

Love making videos but most times I'm with a guy I like I want to focus on what we're doing, so the filming doesn't happen. Better with a third to take the video, that's happened a couple of times .

Yes I’d agree with you on that. I get too in the moment and forget to get some footage lol.
