Isn't it risky? What looks good now may look dated in a year or two's time. Have never really understood the attraction.

I've come to tattoos late in life, I don't think either of mine are fashionable but I like them and don't care what anyone else thinks now or later. A tattoo is a piece of art, just on you rather than on your wall.

That's the great thing about life. If you don't like something then don't do it yourself?

For me personally I had them because I like the designs.

At the end of the day what part of us stays looking amazing as we grow old?

It's not for everyone, I suppose. Tattoos nowadays are actually done with the utmost care, hygiene wise. Tattoist always make sure they steralize/keep the utmost hygiene as they tattoo. Black tattoos tend to be great aestethically. As you get older, it expands and turns light blackish. The black tattoos last better I think than the coloured ones

Tattoos can be a powerful form of self-expression and can enhance attractiveness for some people.

But tattoos can also be seen as a turn-off by others.

Therefore, let the people decide for themselves what they like to do.

In fact, some Japanese tattoos can be very sexy, with sexy Japanese fundoshi and yukata.

I have one at the moment that I had recently done, and love it. I can see myself getting at least a couple more. It was not something I rushed into.

The artist I used give me this advice: if you've had a design in mind for six months or more that's the one to get. And that's what I did.

It's of something I've been a fan of for over 35 yrs as will the next one I currently have in mind.

I like tattoos on others and I like the tattoo on me

I’m not so sure, I have noticed that often a tattoo is a means to precipitate and thereby control judgement, a process that involves a fair amount of judgemental thinking. Not that I especially care but we are all judgemental to one degree or another, even those who ‘don’t judge’.

Always wanted a tattoo, just don't know what I would have.

Also, it is for life and symbols change meaning over the years.

Back when I was younger and a metal fan, lots of my friends had the Marilyn Manson symbol tattoo as it was cool. Not so now. Also a lot had the Confederate flag as it was the flag of youthful rebellion and was on the General Lee car. Not a good look now

You either love them or hate them. Loads more people seem to have them these days. At one time they seemed to be the reserve of the armed forces or criminals. Not normally risky if done by a professional and looked after whilst healing.

I've got five--two on each arm and one on my back. The oldest ones must have been there 45 years by now. Colours faded a bit but not too badly. Quite like tattoos on other guys if tasteful and well done. Don't care for ones you cannot cover up e.g. face, hands, neck.

A couple of years ago I was in hospital. The porter who 'wheeled' me around was a young, handsome and friendly guy. However he had quite a long neck and a full neck tattoo. Made his head look as if it was on top of a tree and not really part of his body.

I have two, o e on each upper arm. My first was a reminder of my time in the Royal Navy.

The second is a memorial piece, to an uncle I never met, but greatly admired from afar, who served on the WWII HMS EXETER (Google her history, it's an amazing read).

They are both very personal to me and thats the story for most people who have tatts. Everyone has their own reasons for having them.
