Is cross-dressing a dying artform?

See very few young cross dressers these days.

Is it just the demographic on this site is skewed towards an older age range?

Is it a cost thing?

Is it a sexual identity thing?

I think it's just the demographic on this site, I think gender lines in the youngsters are much more blurred in terms of dressing than was once the case.

I found my bi-side much later in life and then found my dressing side even later. That could be the case for others.

Do love a younger CD though

That's because it is more relaxing to wear normal clothings.

Whereas cross-dressing is like dressing up and can take hours.

Probably just as common with younger chaps. It is no-longer perceived as a cross-dressing fetish and now seen as a gender expression. Not sure if that will eventually take the erotic thrill out of it, for those that enjoyed it.

This is my line of thinking too. Anything seems to go these days so as you say the thrill is perhaps diminished and it's just considered normal fashion.

Is someone cross-dressing for a meet practicing an 'artform' per se? 🤔

I don't think so. CD has always been a bit niche especially among younger people who are maybe still societally conditioned to stay in their gender lane, but there's no shortage of sexy younger dressers on here if you look.

My lower age filter for actually meeting rather than just looking is set for 35 because I have a thing about not meeting people who are my own kids' age or younger, plus I do largely find conversation with them very generation-gapped (there are exceptions)

I think the prevalence of older dressers simply reflects guys who have in time come to accept and embrace this part of their sexuality.

This site and Fabswingers has an older demographic.

Fet... life... has many more people among the 18-25 bracket.

Best cross-dressing men are from RuPaul Drag Shows and The LadyBoys of Bangkok.

Club Cross Dressing caters for worldwide, and a lot of its members from Canada and the USA.

Was it ever an art form? Thought guys crossdressed because they had a secret female alter ego. Very few look convincing. Most drag queens look like contestants in an audition to be one of the ugly sisters. Okay I admit to being a bit biased but to each their own. It is a fetish rather than an art form. If it makes guys happy then good luck to them.

What I do is not an art form... it's a fetish.

What some of the Drag Queens do on RuPauls is art

Matter of opinion of course. Some quite dreadful things you see in exhibitions is called art and can win prizes or command a high price. Only seen RuPauls thingy a couple of times and most of them look hideous.

Very few cross dressers? Where? There seem to be loads on Fabguys such that my male photo views are usually about 40% men in women’s clothes.

I'm a fan of genuine CDs who do it as a fetish, and better still if they can pull off a convincingly fem look with good makeup/wig etc and a body shape that convinces, but I still want to know there's a man and an erect, fully functional cock there. Sissy behaviour/language and cock cages is a step too far for my tastes.

High camp and drag queens don't do it for me. My wife likes RuPaul and has had me watch Priscilla QOTD but they leave me cold and I don't find anything about it sexy.

Female impersonators and drag queens are a form of entertainment, possibly an art form. CD and TV pursue their activities for a variety of reasons, varying from fetishism to sexual gratification and everything in between.

For me, and many others, it's about having a female alter ego that I escape into as an alternative to daily life as a male. Over several years I've developed a full feminine persona and do my best to present and behave as such.

Most women don't really dress up much. So if you have your hair a mess and wear baggy tackies you are actually dressing as a woman

Some can turn it into an art form.

But for every Pre-Raphaelite beauty, there's a score of abstractists and those firmly in the Impressionist movement.

Cubists with boxy bodies, and Picasso types with eyes all over the place. Not my favourite look

Whatever the results - With X-Dressers, It all comes down to Expressionism

(What they are expressing will be as varied as their numbers)

TBH I do it to be attractive to myself. I feel sexy in lingerie, way more so than when dressed male, and a big part of my dressing is checking myself out in the mirror.

If other people like it that's cool but if I only did it for others' approval I'd feel a bit sad quite quickly

For what it’s worth, my thoughts are that in general the art of stockings and suspenders and the traditional sexy underwear is dying out. Most people in the 20-30 yo age range seems to dress in tighter fitting clothes than the older generations used to at their age so underwear isn’t such a required part of the look.

Also, it’s easier and more accepted (it seems) to be Trans so younger Guy who feel more comfortable in women’s attire maybe don’t have the need or desire to CD
