Think they might have all they need on you." Because you are being asked to provide sensitive data such as credit card, driving licence, even face pic to companies based overseas. What makes you think it’s safe? It’s nothing to do with the government keeping tabs on you. | |||

Most pornsites dont. They want your Google account or X as it has already been verified that your 18+ . Prob is Google account has bank card details on them ..yes encrypted but sure that wouldnt stop software that can run through 1 million subscribers. | |||

"I only use on a android tablet so cant do vpn. My fav sites all want you to prove age verify by logging in with Google account once. But that does leave your digital data still there for outside hackers which is already happening..even though Gov say it's safe..the world knows it aint . So going to https sites for now... and nothing on laptops. " There are plenty of Android VPN apps. I used Surfshark on my phone, tablet, PC and Fire Cube | |||

"This isn’t about proving your age although that’s what they would like you to think. By doing as they ask you will be creating a digital ID that can record everything you do online for the government or institutions like the police etc to look at online whenever they want. The old way of age verification was basically just proving you were 18 by having a credit card & that’s as far as it went. Yes admittedly there is a traceable history of everything you do online but in the past it could only be handed over to the authorities if they had a court order or you were arrested. The worry is keywords & that doesn’t mean necessarily what you type but what you look at could flag up to the authorities. That could be sexual or political or anything they want it to be. Let’s say in 5 yrs time you apply for a job that involves children & although not illegal your CRB check shows that you regularly look at porn. They may not be able to say that’s the reason you didn’t get the job but if your the boss having to do the hiring you may well go for the safe option !! The same goes for anything the government doesn’t like for instance what they decide to call the ‘extreme right’ lime the Reform Party which is a world away from extreme right but in the eyes of some people it could prejudice decisions against you. We have 100’s of years of legal freedoms being wiped away over the last decade or so & this is just the next nail in the coffin. We were once lauded over worldwide for our freedoms & this digital ID is EXACTLY what happens to every citizen in China. It’s no different. " Not sure where you get this from? Another conspiracy theory? There is nothing in the legislation about collecting data for a government digital Id. There. Is lots of data out there in many forms for each individual and different parts of the state have it and access it already. The legislation is to protect children from harmful content (not just porn) | |||
