I personally wouldn't throw one or go to one, but I don't find them all that ridiculous. No more than celebrating anything else.

Maybe they should wait for the egg to hatch before celebrating & then the mute 1-day old can decide

They're stupid.

It's just a trend.

People see vids online and think they'll do it as well

I am quite sure speculating about the genitalia of a child before they are born is as creepy as speculating about them after. Our gender reveal parties the Gateway drug to a paedophilia? Possibly not. Are they creepy? Almost certainly.

They have always amused me. Presume it is when the parent-to-be are told what sex their expectant baby will be. Any silly excuse for a party.

Originally I thought in these strange days of fashionable gender dysphoria it was a party where, at a given time, everyone dropped their pants to reveal whether they had male or female genitalia

sometimes it's a third party that opens the results envelope so that it's a surprise for the parents to be.

That's your sexual orientation and age, neither is your gender being revealed.

It would be quite interesting to go to a gender reveal party where the "child" had just turned 18.

Completely androgenous, just left to guess.

Oi. No groping at the back

I think they are awful things, I don’t agree with revealing the sex of a foetus at scans either. I went to one and as the “gender” wasn’t what the father to be was hoping for, it turned into a major fall out.

Back in the day before I was a fully committed gay, I was married and fathered a child. My wife went into labour about 3 weeks early. I was on army exercise at the time and could not be contacted. When I got back I found a note under my room door that simply read "You have a son". That was the gender reveal to me.

If people want to do it, it’s fine. It doesn’t impact my life in anyway.

I wouldn’t do it but if it brings people joy, go for it.

Whilst not being a fan, these parties have nothing to do with genitalia or paedophilia, and it's a bit stupid to suggest so.

It’s no worse than celebrating a day just because it happened to be the day you slid from between your mothers legs, or because some deity was allegedly born or died.

If people want to get together and have a nice time, let them. If you don’t like it or agree, no one forces you to go.

Personally, I don’t attend gender reveal parties, but wouldn’t moan about others doing it.

I dont celebrate my birthday, but I’m happy to share other people’s celebrations of theirs because it’s good to get together in happy circumstances.

Lol of course, it'll be one of the two apart from very very rare cases.

"Am I being mean or are these ridiculous?"

They are ridiculous and some of the reasons for doing them are just as dumb, like wanting to know so they can paint the nursery the right colour. A baby has no idea what colour is.

I told my daughter if you have one do not tell me because in my mind you are having a baby so what does it matter just be grateful for whatever sex the child is and you should be more concerned that your having a healthy child.

I told her if she tells me then I will make sure she knows what I'm getting her for Christmas and birthdays and won't bother wrapping them up.

When my son and daughter were born I was so excited I didn't care what we got

I've just had a better idea why not a parent reveal party so they find out who the father really is.

I doubt some of the wives would want that sort of reveal party.

And the father is oops it's the husbands best mate lol

Still haven't got a clue about these strange parties.

Gender reveal: At a given time you whip the baby's diaper off to show whether it has a penis of vagina

Baby Shower: A small shower, about 3 foot high, in which to bathe the baby

Or these days 'modern families' would just persuade it to change gender.

In the most lighthearted way possible;

I was recently fucked by 3 different guys and sucked 5 different cocks in one night.

Still not as gay as a gender reveal party.
