It’s the MMR vaccine apparently that the kids get and 35% effective but that’ll make a big difference and help stop the clap becoming fully resistant to antibiotics. What’s not to like?

I haven't heard about a Gonorrhoea vaccine, last I heard it was all about super Gonorrhoea. At the Umberella clinic here in Birmingham this week I was told that the new area manager is trying to limit free condoms to 2 per person.

I've already had that. Maybe it'd act as a booster if I had another one.

If it's the MMR it'll be 'standard' tech as that's been out for around 30 years.

Well I would try and avoid anyone I knew was an anti-vaxer because they would be a bigger risk, and will probably end up removing themselves from the gene pool prematurely, just don’t want them trying to take me (or anyone else) with them because of their ignorance/stupidity/whatever.

I don't mean it in an 'earth is flat' way, but vaccines are made to shock the body. So there will be an immediate short term reaction if any. Thats what I want to know.

Some places are sensibly only supplying it to those on prep first. Because if you’re putting yourself that much at risk then you should be on prep.

My favourite part of the tin-hat brigade’s fear of being injected with a tracking chip…is their posting about it…from an electronic device…that they pay for, that can be used to identify them, profile them, garner their location, movements, habits, tastes….etc etc

But ohhhhh no, they’ll outwit the powers that be by not having an injection!

"So there will be an immediate short term reaction if any. Thats what I want to know."

The simple answer has to be you won’t know until you have it. Everyone is different. Some people will have no reaction, some might have a slight reaction, etc. in a very few cases (and we are probably looking at 1 in a thousand or more) there may be a severe reaction. There is no way to know in advance how a particular person will react to this (or any other drug) until they have it for the first time.

Well from what I have read about the vaccine the vaccine is about 40% effective (not perfect but better than nothing) you can see this for yourself in the NHS link below, which also contains a link to the Analysis led by Imperial College London.

If both parties have been vaccinated then there will be a lower risk than if only one (or no) party has been vaccinated

Think you will find that you require two jabs the second jab needs to be between 4 weeks and 6 months after the first . So you can double that to £220 as I think you will find £110 is the price of one jab.

What is DoxyPEP?

DoxyPEP involves taking 200mg of doxycycline within 24 hours and no later than 72 hours after sex. It is recommended for individuals at increased risk of syphilis, including gay and bisexual men and trans women. The medication is less effective against gonorrhea due to antibiotic resistance.

"I’m at Prep clinic later this morning. I’ll give you an update on where we are on this from our West London reporter…"

Your roving sexual health correspondent from West London can report…

1.) “We can’t give you your usual 6 month Prep prescription - sorry. Here’s 3 months. We’re having serious stock supply issues.”

2.) Gonorrhoea vaccine is being rolled out from this Friday (this would be for Hillingdon, Ealing, Harrow area - we are separated from the main London system so can’t update about them). Form of the Meningitis vaccine. Not a “live” vaccine. Only a small supply first available in our area but hope to increase as rolled out. Priorities will be those who are most regularly exposed - ie potentially Prep users - but it was unclear if anyone was going to analyse this or be proactive. You can request it and basically they will look at your sexual history and approve or not, was my reading. Part 1 vaccine and then part 2 four weeks later. And after that might be an annual booster or something. I’m hoping to have mine later this month.

3.) If you were vaccined for Monkeypox, they are now happy to give a booster if your vaccination was over 3 years ago. My Monkeypox imbroglio was July 2022 so am now able to request a booster. Also being lined up for later this month. 2) and 3) can be taken together.

Hope that’s useful.

Had mine on Friday along with Mpox. No side effects from either.

Had a discussion with the sexual health nurse about doxy pep. As it's an antibiotic she has concerns about popping them like smarties because of antibiotic resistance. I do worry a bit that we're storing up trouble for ourselves in the long term just for short term gain.
