Has anyone used it?

I’m starting it through the GP due to sleep apnea, low testosterone and family history of diabetes.

Apparently it really helps with sex drive?

Not heard that but it might be a psychological effect of weight loss?

I’m on it for Type 2 Diabetes - was put on it last November. Can’t say it increased my sex drive, but I have lost around 16Kg in weight.

Does it require you to stay on it permanently or can you come off and not regain the weight?

Simple answer is I don’t know. GP used it a a replacement for a diabetic treatment drug I was on. I assume that it is going to be long term unless there are side effects or it becomes ineffective. The only pain is that the injector pens only contain 4 doses, so have to re-order and go and collect every 4 weeks.

That’s a really good response. I imagine your eating habits have changed too

Thanks for the info.

I wonder what the long term impacts of these will be, it sounds like they have excellent short term results. I really hope that sustains!

Not so much that I’d notice, probably fair to say I don’t eat as much i.e. smaller sized meals. I also go out and do laps of our car park (weather permitting) as I have a sedentary job, but I did that before being put on the jab.

Well in my case it is for Diabetes treatment, the weight loss is a side effect 😉 won’t know the effect on the diabetes until I have my annual check up in November when they take bloods (and the piss 🤣). My surgery works on the long term reading for type 2.

Red Rose County

I started on it at the end of May. I had to stop one of my diabetic drugs due to side effects.

The first month you are on a 2.5 mg dose. It doesn’t do much for weight loss but it does suppress your appetite a bit. Once they have established there are no side effects you go on to the 5mg dose. That does suppress your appetite. Since being on that dosage I’m down about 6.5 KG in the last 6-7 weeks.

If you do over eat the wrong stuff ie crisps etc you may get some violent diarrhoea. As a general rule bar a bit of constipation not severe, and probably because you are eating less. It works quite well

As to improving libido can’t say I’ve noticed but again that could be down to self esteem. As people feel better about themselves generally when they have lost weight.

I’ve dropped between 2 and 3 dress sizes and I’m loving it. Even if it means a whole new wardrobe

Fingers crossed, it sounds like it has some superb benefits, I’ve heard a few folks mention it for diabetes.

You can get a 5th dose, just keep twisting (its quite hard so need to use force) and then use.

It works - 10% of weight lost, it does really work although I find it kills sex drive for first few days and then comes back!

Unfortunately my bmi isn’t high enough, so I’m trying to put on some weight so I can get some Mounjaro. It’s either that or lose some height.

Actually I’ve found that sometimes you’re lucky to get the full 4 doses, as the plunger locks up while winding it out. Seems to be built into the design.

Friend of mine is on it. Obviously everyone will react differently, but he said constant feeling to eat and think about food disappeared overnight, no effect on libido anything else. Hes lost a few stone already.

I think they usually lower the dosage once you approach your target weight.

My wife has been taking it for 6-8 months.

Has the body confidence and sex drive of a 21 year old. We've really reconnected.

The other option can be to go on it privately if you can afford that.

I know someone who lost 2 stone without mounjaro, so he no longer qualified for it on the NHS. The doctor said that if he waited a year and had put the weight back on, then he'd qualify again.

He decided to buy it privately, and he's lost another 2 stone since starting.

Been thinking of going to see my GP about this. Such a performance getting an appointment. I suffer with sleep apnea and have to use a CPAP machine. Also borderline diabetic. Had a weight problem all my life and despite endless diets it gets worse rather than better.

"I’ve heard a few folks mention it for diabetes."

I think that is because primarily it was intended for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes

“ Mounjaro is an injectable prescription medicine that is used along with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar (glucose) in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.”

The weight loss is partly a side effect. My GP surgery put me on it and discontinued the Saxaglyptin tablets I was on as (according to them) it was more effective. As it can help with weight loss its use has now been extended for weight loss as well.

I’ve been on it since the 6th of August and have lost 3 stone 3 pounds so far. It’s completely changed how I feel about food and drink. I was a binge drinker pre mounjaro and now I only drink if I’m going out to a gig. My food intake has massively changed for the better and I’m feeling much better about my body. As a bottom it’s helped me with douching too

Was it your wife's idea to go on it?
