My hilarious (with hindsight) tale.

I joined WhatsApp because so many here use it, as an outside and more immediate channel for chatting when mobile. Put up a profile pic of me in black stockings, bra and thong. All great for a while, some sexy chats and one led to a hot meet.

Like a doofus, didn't really realise it's hooked to your personal phone number. And I work in a profession where lots of totally normal business contacts use WhatsApp for, well, business. One day my immediate boss was I suppose idly browsing his contacts including WhatsApp. And suddenly blurts out (as being colleagues obvs he had my mobile number) ... "Fucking hell Steve, is that your profile photo on WhatsApp?"

Bear in mind he's Mr Straight, all business. I styled it out, didn't fluster, said "dunno what you're on about", disappeared out the office and immediately changed the profile pic to a bland cartoon avatar, and said nothing more about it. Neither did he. But I knew that he knew, and he knew that I knew.

We work in different places now, are still mates and it only feels a little strange that he got the briefest of glimpses of my other life.

Well I use a separate old phone with a payg sim for the site and WhatsApp for contacts here. Not because I have an issue with family and friends who all know I’m gay any way, nor an issue with work as they supplied a work phone which is used for work purposes only. But in the event that I have a problem with someone then I just get a new sim with a new number and can let the few contacts I have from here know of the change before swapping the sims over.
