Dirty house

Has anyone ever walked out of a meet because of a dirty house?

I had an early morning meet today and walked in and saw about 3 weeks worth of washing piled up, and the place was absolutely stinking.

I felt a bit guilty about it because the guy was nice enough and had been speaking for a week or so and arranged to meet this morning.

And obviously im not going to name and shame him because its against rules and just not fair.

Yes. Doesn't need to be a show home but at least some basic sense of hygiene and cleanliness.

If that's how they keep their house clean, can you imagine how clean they keep their body?

Been in that situation and wish I had have walked out. Made me extremely uncomfortable but got over myself and got down to action.

A good indicator is to look at profile pictures to see how some people live and if it looks like a shithole which you can often tell I scroll on by

Yes, twice. The first was a total hovel. The second just very cluttered to the point where there was hardly any room to move.

I insist a house cleaned before a meet, preferably by professional cleaners. Once inside I like to check for dust on the door frames and skirting boards and examine those tricky places behind the bathroom pipework. Only then will I take off my hazchem suit and begin normal interactions.

Do you run a white gloved finger along the mantelpiece too?

Of course.

I once had a letting agent do this with my plug sockets. A slight tinge on her glove and bang went my deposit.

Kim and Aggie, may they rest in peace

There’s a difference between clutter and unclean- but usually avoid and have left before now

Very true words spoke here

I look at the pictures and if I see stacks of books, clothes, half decorated walls, yellow paint, cups on the tables, even ashtrays when they state they don’t smoke but clearly live alone, then I look further, go forward 6 months or back , and the clutter is still there, good indication of what you are going to be greeted with.

And the bathroom pictures, mould around the shower tray and bath sealant, two tone silicone!

Nah!!!🙈

There's no excuse, I pay my cleaner £60 for three hours, once a week. Extremely good value.

Somebody mentioned the garden. sadly. Most have a communal garden, so you shouldn't judge people in the garden. My neighbour is a lazy **** and refuses to do the garden.

But if I'm expecting somebody over (which is rare), I always make sure the flat is tidy, lived in but not a tip.

A meeting like that is bad but what’s even worse is if you are viewing a house for sale!

In the last few weeks viewed plenty of houses. One on the market for over 600k looks like it’s not been cleaned in months! Another had dirty clothing on a bed. One had not one but four dirty toilets,

Can’t people clean anymore?
