On current form and current personal this is true

Peak of last season a comfortable Premier League team

What a sudden demise

Lincoln

I'm a Lincoln fan but Celtic get 60,000 fans for every home game in a piss poor league.

If they played in the EPL they'd have to extend their ground to about 90,000 and they would also be hundreds of millions of pounds a year better off.

English football fans saying Celtic (and Rangers to a lesser extent) wouldn't compete in the EPL are talking nonsense.

All they have to do if they feel their future is in the “English” leagues. They can apply to join the Cumbria FA. Resign from the SFA. Then they can work their way to the top just like every other team under FA jurisdiction.

I doubt they have that kind faith in their own abilities though

Well said, and true. Given the financial resources of the EPL both teams would do well.

No competent professional footballer would play for a Cumbrian non league club.

I understand the point you are trying to make but it is not well served by the example you give

North London (outer)

The point is that Celtic fans continually give it large when, in effect, they're winning a one-horse race with no real competition.

Boring, safe, within their comfort zone and now, following the disaster yesterday, found out and embarrassing.

You may understand however if the big two from Glasgow want to up sticks and play in England for the big money. They have to play by the rules down here. There is a pyramid system and clubs have to earn their place within it.

Could you imagine them getting parachuted into league 1. Someone in league 2 would miss out on a promotion and prize money and subsequently every league below it would be affected.

I would imagine the FA would be involved in litigation for years to come.

Scottish Football has made allowances and pandered to them for years. The English leagues have to need to and wouldn’t. Most clubs in England wouldn’t want the arrogant sectarianism of their fans anyway.

No if they want to play in the big pond they would have to earn their place within it. That means starting at the bottom

🇮🇪 Utter nonsense. We support our team and enjoy success just as supporters of any other team do. It's a way of life. Giving it large in the opinion of someone who supports his own team without emotional engagement. Someone who is happy enough with his team underachieving season after season.

As for the Op, why is it always the hotties?

Celtic FC don’t deserve the fantastic loyalty of their support. Their recruitment policy is shit and insures continuing mediocrity with the hope they will default into a CL spot and a windfall each year having spent zilch. Well that’s back-fired. It’s just as well the gers are even worse just now.

Well said that man. Pedro, Nicholson and the rest of em have let us down. I don't blame those who missed the penalties.

Suffice to say Sevco getting pumped was pleasing to see.

Watched the second half of the bigot Brothers at the weekend. Don’t think there was a lot of pumping by either team. One of those games whereby you hope for 22 players sent off and the referee to win

It must be such a shame when a bad season consists of not winning the league by April or winning the first cup of the season.

I feel bad for Celtic fans in as much as (like many EPL clubs) the board have turned their passion into a business and have no understanding of what truly makes the club tick.

But the sense of entitlement, like that which comes from Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs etc fans, means that my sympathy doesn’t stretch very far.

I understand why you made these comments. Maybe because I have friends who support, Villa / Wolves / Watford / Dundee etc.

However it’s not entitlement it’s about the standard expected and the way the club interacts with fans. That’s not even mentioning the style of play expected

We do remember the long barren years too.

Owners and managers come into football clubs without either knowing the history of the club or respecting that clubs history and achievements.

Not just Celtic but other Scottish and English clubs and not just in the premiership either.

It's now all about the business or the individual.

There are some managers out there who have the ability to connect to the clubs past, the players and the fans. But business men running these clubs are only interested in money

A very astute post. As I said to a pal a wee while ago, Martin will impress on the players just what it means to wear the jersey.
