Face that it and not chest, cock, balls or arse. Prefer to wet shave but struggling to find decent blades that give me a smooth shave and don't cut me to shreds. Recently bought a Harry's kit. Started off fine but a couple of the blade heads have cut me hence bleeding and notable scarring afterwards. Even thinking of giving up and having another attempt at growing a beard but not over keen.

It sounds like it could be the shaving product that you use rather than the blades.

If you can, try and shave after a shower, the water from the shower will soften your beard. Then, use a shaving brush to apply shaving cream. The brush lifts the damp bristles making them easier to remove.

Rinse your blade throughout your shave in very hot water and make sure you follow up with a decent post-shave product.

I have found that shaving gels and foams don’t work as well as good old shaving cream.

A five blade Gillette power razor always does the trick for me, first pass I use a shavette.

A warm towel (doesn't need to be hot) over the face for 10 or 20 seconds helps I find.

Be gentle and don't press to hard. Wash blade frequently. Use good quality foam, change the blade frequently to.

I use blades from Harry's to and in 2 years only had one nick.

Have a look at Edwin Jagger based in sheffield

I use their stuff for a sink shave, other times its an old gillette in the shower and tidy up with an electric shaver later

Have you thought about having a bath or shower first which will help to soften the bristles on your face and then shaving afterwards.

I always use Aloe Vera Gel on my face as a foundation and then use Nivea Sensitive Shaving Cream on top works a treat every time.

Good luck!

"I use the Aldi razors. Good close shave and never nicks myself"

I found Aldi razors some of the worse for nicks. Second only to BIC. Perhaps I just have easily nickable skin. Been shaving since I was 13 or 14 but only had this problem recently. Have tried electric shavers but they don't give a very close shave and tend to feel sore afterwards

Gave up trying about 30 years ago. Full beard ever since, no more spending the day feeling like my neck got scalded and throwing out shirts because of the blood spots on the collar. Probably saved enough money to buy a car instead of giving it to Gillette.

I gave up. Used to wet shave almost daily, but then noticed the skin was drying out despite products and then red & inflamed

I went back to an electric shaver, nothing too fancy (Philips wet & dry 3 headed one bought in a sale) to see how that went. Seems to work much better for me. Not as close as wet shaving, but a decent result

Wash face with slightly warm water, get a double edge razor, and some shaving cream

Gives the best shave

Wilkinson Sword 3D Protector wet shave. Been using since I started shaving, hard to find now, so if I see them I buy a couple of boxes. Like all razors they're so expensive now, were in a security box in the supermarket!
