Hacked ?

In my area a guy has a new profile stating that the previous one was hacked. Find that a bit difficult to believe. Is it a case of forgetting a password or creating a new profile to generate attention?

I assume that anyone who says that just got banned from whatever platform they're on. If you forget a password then you can just get it reset.. and if you used a throwaway email then what's the harm in admitting it.
