I had it recently. Sore arm for about 3 days.

On day I had it after a few hours felt very tired, and couldn’t face food. But next day right as rain.

Still think it was worth getting, just another tool in the box, excuse pun.

Am told Scotland will only give the vaccine if you have tested +ve for ghonn in the last 12 months. Suspect it is to stretch vaccine supplies as far as possible

My experience does not bear this out: back in July, was offered vaccine never having had gonorrhoea.

Flu like symptoms lasted only a couple of hours. An ibuprofen and some sleep helped. It has been 36 hours since the shot. Arm pain disappeared amd so did the symptoms. Worth saying that the vaccine has only 30-40 percent efficiency. Also a booster shot is needed 4 weeks later. Yes offered routinely on NHS. So ask for it.

You should be vaccinated against hepatitis A and B before you start prep.

Unless you’re already naturally immune. I’d be surprised if a clinic supplied you without checking.

And this, dear friends, is why we don’t come to the FabGuys Forum to read posts from anonymous users for important sexual health advice. 🙄

Read up the differences between:

HIV PrEP

HIV PEP

DoxyPrEP

DoxyPEP

And the whole point of the NHS pushing bexsero injections for gonorrhoea currently is exactly because vaccination is better for the immune systems than too much sporadic antibiotic tablet use.

The nurse advised that initially over a month ago they were prioritising high risk individuals. That was over a month ago. Now they are offering it to the rest. Of course, stock supplies in various areas differ. So work proactively talking to your clinic. It does not provide 100 percent protection. Efficacy is only about 40 percent.

"only about 40 percent" is enough to make it cost effective for the NHS, reduce the spread in the population and to be of significant benefit to the recipient.

Decided to have it because I am having sex with many guys. After I have the vaccine I feel tired for one day with a sore arm. After that, I am very well. I have other vaccines for hepatitis, mpox and on event-based prep. I have sex with many guys frequently and I don't want to catch any infection. My partner has the vaccines too, he fucked me bareback and otger guys too. Finger crossed I never catch any infection.

Frequent sex with many guys - shouldn’t you be on daily prep?

Taking event based more than twice a week means you’re taking more tablets than daily.

Just been to my clinic for six-monthly check and was offered Bexsero but declined. I've got a busy next few days and you lot with your extended side effects put me off. May get it at my next appointment, in six months. And by the way, you have to wait a minimum of four weeks before you get the booster. The interval can be as long as six months, according to my clinic.
