"Flu like symptoms lasted only a couple of hours. An ibuprofen and some sleep helped. It has been 36 hours since the shot. Arm pain disappeared amd so did the symptoms. Worth saying that the vaccine has only 30-40 percent efficiency. Also a booster shot is needed 4 weeks later. Yes offered routinely on NHS. So ask for it. "

"I won't be getting the vaccine! Same as flu and covid. Tetanus. Mpox. Hep but I am going to start prep as it's tablets! " You should be vaccinated against hepatitis A and B before you start prep. Unless you’re already naturally immune. I’d be surprised if a clinic supplied you without checking.

"Will they just give it, if I asked for the vaccine? Or are there criteria? I have to understand certain age( like for HPV), or have had STD before etc? " The nurse advised that initially over a month ago they were prioritising high risk individuals. That was over a month ago. Now they are offering it to the rest. Of course, stock supplies in various areas differ. So work proactively talking to your clinic. It does not provide 100 percent protection. Efficacy is only about 40 percent.

" "only about 40 percent" is enough to make it cost effective for the NHS, reduce the spread in the population and to be of significant benefit to the recipient.

"Still ill take that 4 in 10 chance. Better than 0 in 10. Id encourage everyone to get protected. " My comment was aimed at "It might be 100% effective for some and 0% effective for others." My response to your previous post makes it clear that 40% "is enough to make it cost effective for the NHS, reduce the spread in the population and to be of significant benefit to the recipient."

"Just been to my clinic for six-monthly check and was offered Bexsero but declined. I've got a busy next few days and you lot with your extended side effects put me off. May get it at my next appointment, in six months. And by the way, you have to wait a minimum of four weeks before you get the booster. The interval can be as long as six months, according to my clinic." I had mine: next to no pain, slightly stiff upper arm for a day or two and zero side effects that I’m aware of. Booster four weeks later, no pain slight stiffness for a day: nothing at all beyond what you would expect from an intramuscular injection
