"Rule Britannia!! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧"

Wot, no Cymru Am Byth? What the fuck kind of nationalist can you call yourself if you don't even love your own country above all others, you traitor!

" Wot, no Cymru Am Byth? What the fuck kind of nationalist can you call yourself if you don't even love your own country above all others, you traitor!"

What a puzzling and blatantly ignorant response, incredibly from the Heart of Merry England no less! My country is The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Wales is one of the constituent parts along with England and Scotland,

'Rule Britannia' sung at Last Night of the Proms is of course, quintessentially a tradition celebrating British patriotism incorporating English, Scottish, Northern Irish and Welsh heartfelt pride!

In Wales, we celebrate our culture on Dydd Gwyl Dewi - 1af Mawrth (St David's Day - 1st March), another six months away!

The assumption that I'm a nationalist of some type and the derogatory label of "traitor" is both mystifying and totally unfounded. Moreover, the use of profanity was entirely unnecessary and merely highlights the linguistic ignorance of the user – calm and respectful words are always more effective than unnecessary offensive language!

Enjoyed the new arrangement of Bohemian Rhapsody and the participation of Brian May and Roger Taylor. Also Bill Bailey on the Typewriter and the Organ. Always try and watch the 2nd Half of the show.

Always a little sadness when it is “Last Night”. To me it marks the end of summer and a shift into Autumn and the start of the slide to the end of the year. Trouble is they seem to be coming round quicker now with the passing years. Still 1895 to 2025 and the world wide reach must make it the greatest music festival on the planet (yes I know there a a couple of others that have been around for longer but they don’t have the same popularly or world wide reach).

The aprons and the elitism are heinous yet the musical excellence is undeniable.

Culture as contradiction?

I have revered cliassical music all my life. It has given me countless hours of pleasure. But I abhor the 'BBC abusing its license to run the Henry Woord Promenade Concerts (which /i have attended in the past) Dumbing down, what they all the "Proms", with pop music is a real torn off so I didn't watch it this year.
