Just wondering if any guys have experienced any issues with viagra or sildanafil and blood pressure medication. I was given some sildanafil by a friend who i trust, but am wary of trying them if it buggers up by blood pressure meds. Would hate to pass out during sex. It could be seen as a compliment, as long as they don't think i fell asleep!!!!

The best place to go for advice here is your doctor.

Just because it works for one person doesn’t mean it’s not dangerous for another .

That’s a long time to wait for a GP appointment.

My doctor was brilliant. He explained everything including that my other medication can cause ED after being on it for a long time. He asked lots of questions, but I never felt embarrassed. He told me that he was happy to prescribe it, but it is limited per month.

So go to your gp to make sure it’s right for you a never take medication prescribed to someone else!!

I suffered blackouts after being prescribed a mixture and too much hypertension medication by my GP.

Unfortunately, every medication has side effects and all medication comes with a leaflet thst tells you this. But of course no-one (ie me or my GP) expects to be the 1 in 10,000 that it does give a negative reaction too.

I had prior to these episodes took Blue pills obtained on line with no problems.

I would recommend discussing with your GP..as it depends on your own BP levels and what you are already taking.

But...as in my case ...there still could be unexpected side effects ...like ANY change in medication.

You could also have a private conversation with a pharmacist at chemist. If GP appt too long to wait

A GP will only advise you not to take meds from your mate

As others have said see your GP. I talked to mine about it because I am on various meds. All very matter-of-fact as if we were discussing something like a chest infection. He prescribed the equivalent of Viagra and they seemed to work. Slightly amused that I was only prescribed four a month but getting sex that often would be a miracle.

I'm on Amlodipine for Hypertension and I take sildenafil, prescribed by my Dr.But just because it's ok for me doesn't mean it will be for you. As mentioned on here, contact your GP. You probably be able to get a phone appointment and won't even have to see him

I have high BP so take meds to lower it.

Viagra works by increasing your BP.

Always ask your doctor first.

It doesn’t raise it, it lowers it. That’s why it can be dangerous to take it with other meds that decrease BP without discussing with your GP.

I’m on BP medication and get Viagra on prescription due to other meds. Doc is un-phased when you discuss it, they’ve heard it all before.

See a Doctor.

He may also be able to tell you why you have ED and may treat it another way.

If you are on any form of Nitrate medication for the heart etc do not take it as it will cause your BP to fall dramatically

That’s been said about 16 times already but it’s good of you to take control.

Fair point. Often easier to get a meet off here than a GP appointment

This echoes what my pharmacist explained.

Apparently Viagra was developed originally as a BP reducing medication. It causes the blood vessels to relax, thus increasing blood flow (including to the penis).

They realised the erection side-effect, and marketed it as a ED medication instead.

Or something like that.
