So I just upgraded with my credit card. I now await the inevitable

Q and A about what it was for. Running out of reasons. How do guys usually cover this?

You could get a Mastercard prepaid card such as the ASDA Travel Money Card or the Post Office Travel

Money Card Plus card etc. You can add funds in ASDA or the Post Office and you can use them online.

Separate bank accounts. Always had them and honestly see no reason to have a joint account even though we're married.

I think my wife's more scared of me seeing her Amazon habit than I am of her seeing my expenses

Just open another bank account for YOU. It's your business.

This is almost 100% exactly like my experience. We have our own expenses and accounts and let’s be honest, Pandora’s box needs to stay closed for both of us. 🤣

How will she see it?

Go paperless, don’t have a physical statement.

Does she have access to your account online?

If it’s a joint card then you are an idiot.

If (I'm assuming) your wife has Google, she'll find this

https://website.informer.com/email/fabdomains@winconltd.com

Which makes it patently clear what you've been spending your money on

Tell her your card was cloned at the gay sauna. Seriously though just get an online account like Revolut to pay for stuff.

Text or my separate slush money account. Slush account is just where I get expenses paid into, nothing on current account or credit card. Two Amazon accounts.

Why does anybody have joint accounts any more anyway? Seems a bit patriarchal and antiquated to me.

My wife pays most of the household bills from her account and I transfer my share of that every month, and what's left is mine and my business, and the same for her. I pay for broadband and car expenses and we pool money for holidays etc, but what each of us spends our disposable income on is our own business. We'll consult if it's a big thing, like a couple of hundred on a guitar I want but don't need, but petty expenses are just that, not worth bothering each other about.

Don't understand why anyone has a joint account for everything. Have one for bills and groceries that you both pay into.
