Before I start this rant, I love motor racing. I race a morgan plus 8 myself in historics. I have just watched the contrived Baku grand prix. Why do they race on rubbish street circuits like this? Contrived and manufactured because you put the fastest car this year in the mid field and it makes no headway against its slower competitors. The FIA have invented this ridiculous system called DRS because without it the faster car would stand little or no chance of an overtake. Couple this with a ridiculously narrow street circuit where the drivers are expected to overtake with poor sight lines. What is the answer gent's? I accept that a large percentage of you won't give a shit about F1 but let's try and make this constructive.

All got too technical.

It used to be about the best driver (many years ago) but now it’s about the car and there are too many technical rules.

I can’t be arsed to watch it these days

The Baku circuit is just another Monaco, too narrow for any proper racing and overtaking. Even with tyre strategy there is too much reliance on the hope of a safety car to mix things up. Circuits like Baku and Monaco are on the calendar for political reasons within the FIA not for the joy of racing.

Personally find the post race penalties a ball ache. Go to bed thinking driver A has won, wake up to find he passed wind outside the farting zone and got a 10 second penalty and is now last, has to start at the back of the grid, but got 5 points off a public vote for the smelliest driver. And driver B wins.

Indeed.

Sadly the large number of street circuits are also the ones with the largest cash incentives to the FIA.

Only good part of today's race was seeing a Williams back on the podium. (I've been a McLaren supporter since the 70s)

I think Monaco should stay, and ditch the rest, Monaco was the first, and so, had a special place

Make the cars smaller and louder.

Dump the street circuits and modify tracks you cant overtake on.

Baku race was awful

Need another James Hunt character. The drivers and everyone in F1 are so "nice". Get rid of Baku and Monaco. Do something about the engines. They don't scream anymore. Bring back refuelling so that the cars are at full stretch.

Too many races based on who has most money. Cut the number of races in half, lose the street circuits, maybe except Monaco, and give us real racing

DRS going next year anyway thankfully. Never really liked it. But the cars will be even more technical so that's going to be a challenge for the smaller teams.

Completely agree about Baku. Very bad circuit, bumps into walls are the only way to progress.

Wait till next season the car tech is completely changing to fully hybrid regenerative driving totally out of character for current F1 drivers. Bring back the 80s cars

Look at pricing, I used to go to Silverstone every year. Next year Lando stand over a thousand pounds.

Reduce aero, so drivers can race and overtake.

Bring back V10, it's never going to be a climate friendly sport when you add races and travel thousands of miles. At least let us enjoy the sounds of F1.

The German GP at Hockenheim used to be really good before the circuit was turned into a Mickey Mouse affair to increase the length of time the race took just to allow more advertising time on TV during races. Enjoyed the spectacle of cars amongst the fastest im world going as fast as possible along 3 long staights and then going through a twisty stadium section. A real power circuit that tested cars to the limit. Also bring back the one lap shoot out for qualifying. Anything could happen and it was very exciting.

As someone into most motorsports- I’ve never been interested in F1.

The technology is interesting in isolation but just watch 1990’s BTCC or 2000s Aussie V8 touring cars to see what’s missing- emotion.

Better still with good headsets to get the noise.

I have been watching or attending F1 since the early sixties. Recently... I am starting not to bother! F1 has become a an advertising hyped up shambles; with mostly processional races of mobile advertising hoardings. Little to do with motor racing these days... DRS, undercuts, football team size pit crews, armys of data crews, drivers (sic) being advised how to drive by the pit crew over radio links; the whole lot needs to be scrapped and F1 return to basics i.e. car and drivers actually racing each other! Plus the amateur Sky TV coverage of F1 is woeful... Dreadful presenters and pundits that know nothing about motor racing (apart from Brundle and Rosberg). You would think with the wealth of ex F1 drivers and team principles available

Sky could use some knowledgeable people to present F1 TV, instead... they employ idiots! If Sky can't, won't do it... then someone else should be found before

F1 dies!

Make all F1 cars identical, no driver aids, the only radio messages when the driver wants new tyres, then we’ll see who the real drivers are
